    Royal Purple 30w

I have a chance to get a five gallon container of this for cheap. Application is a Formula Vee/FV1200 race car that uses a modified Volkswagen Beetle engine (air cooled, flat four cylinder, 6,500 RPM naturally aspirated). This is with very short drain intervals and Wix oil filters, thanks.

Safe to switch used oil filters between cars?

I really don't see the point in this personally? Inform the new buyer about the filter and he or she will change it when they want to.

ADBV, Headers, Mess, Smoke, Your Thoughts ???

Or you could wrap the header with aluminum foil, so the oil just slides right off without soaking into the header wrap.

Tiny Dent in oil filter, Still good?

That's okay man, last winter my mom poured 4L of Prestone Antifreeze into the gas tank of our 2001 Chrysler Intrepid because she thought that gas freezes and the antifreeze will prevent this from happening. The engine made it a good three hours like that before blowing up. That said, it's not...

    Mobil 1 synthetic for jeep?

I just changed the oil on my sister's '04 Liberty 3.7L V6. I used Valvoline 10w30 dino oil and a Wix (Carquest) oil filter. The filter is a royal pain in the ---- to get at and screw/unscrew, and even harder to drop it out of there without spilling oil everywhere! It helps if you remove (or at...

    Mobil 1 10w30 High Mileage

You can't get straight 30w M1 here, or any straight weight quality oil here (not locally, anyway...never seen any). I would really prefer 30w, but as I said, I got this stuff dirt cheap.

    Mobil 1 10w30 High Mileage

I just got a smoking deal on four 4.4L bottles and four 1L bottles of Mobil 1 10w30. Upon opening the box I see that it is their "high mileage" blend (apparently all the M1 10w30 sold in Canada carries this label). This will be used in a FV1200 formula race car next season (air cooled, four...

How tight to screw the oil filter?

I don't even own a filter wrench. Turn them on as tight as I can without killing myself (usually about 3/4 - 1 turn after the gasket makes contact) and they always come off with about the same tension. Never had a filter come loose or leak, never needed an oil filter wrench or anything but my...

    "Filtromax" Oil Filter Magnet

Any good? I don't see why it wouldn't work. I got one for free so it's not a matter of money well spent or not, just if it helps/doesn't hurt the engine. http://www.filtromax.com/index2.php

    Three newbie questions

Cool - I'll change it tomorrow and again after 1,000 km's. What's a good conventional or semi-synthetic I can put it? Personally I have very little experience with choosing anything other than synthetic so I'm a little bit lost. I've always liked Valvoline, good call?

    Three newbie questions

I was thinking about doing a flush. In that case I would just use the Quaker State (Purolator) and the Castrol GTX for say, 500 km's...my sister does that in about a day sometimes, hahaha. I don't know if I can bring myself to screw on the FRAM. I was going to cut it open just for kicks. As I...

    Three newbie questions

Hey Everybody, This is definitely a newbie question - but how do I go about properly cutting open an oil filter? I'm only fifteen years old but I have changed oil tons of times (I work in three different shops), but this is my first time doing it at home on one of the family vehicles. I have...
