2002 Nissan Sentra (kid's first car)

Thanks everyone! I still haven't seen the car as I'm in Buffalo at the moment. @redhat I plan on putting it on jackstands/ramps and inspecting every inch of it, and hitting every switch and making sure it all works. It will be fun teaching him how to do things, and it's an easy car to work on.

2002 Nissan Sentra (kid's first car)

Greetings all. So it has happened: My older son bought his first new car yesterday. I have not been able to inspect it or drive it; he received help elsewhere on those aspects. What should we/I look out for in general? I've never owned this brand or this car. I drove this version once about...

18 years of 0w20 motor oil at Honda

    I did 227k on a 2001 Civic, and 284k on a 2005 CR-V. I run 0w20 in my 4Runner and plan on 500k minimum.

What is more important to you? A detailed interior or exterior?

My interior right now is free of debris but it is full of dust and needs a full cleaning. I can get the outside clean easy......the inside is a pain and really should be done once a month.

What’s the best cartridge filter now?

I use the least expensive in my 4Runner. Never more than $6. Ecotec going in next. Have used their air filters, zero issues.

Do you "flash" to warn of police patrol ahead? Speeding content and rant.

    MLS Apple TV exclusive

My friend just gave me "family access" so that I could watch FC Cincinnati. They used to be on local broadcast tv, but not anymore. Annoying.

    Craftsman oil & filter

Cheaper than going to some places, they'll sell a bunch in my opinion.

    Worn out brake pads

Those are in good shape for that many miles. The brakes on all four corners of a 2011 Mazda CX-9 I did last year were stopping the car on the backing plates. That was the hardest job I've ever done, in terms of cleanup and beating the living heck out of the rotors to get them all off. Hours of...

Have you owned a vehicle for 15 years without internal engine problems

I had the same setup, 2005 CR-V 2.4L, 284K when I traded it. Original everything minus the A/C compressor. That is the only major thing I needed to replace, ever. And that was at 240K.

Might purchase a 1991 Buick Reatta

If it was good enough to be given to the 1990 SB MVP Joe Montana, it's good enough for me.

Did I lowball the guy or was I reasonable?

Wait them out. It's the largest dealer in the region, with a huge advertising budget. You should see their houses....... You're looking at a low miles Japan-built car without rust. If a week goes by and they haven't called you back, call them and go even lower. Keep doing that.

School me on Certified Pre-Owned (CPO)

I believe it's a "demo." I bought one with 5k on it that was considered "new" with the full warranty from 0 miles and time-wise. Mazda Protege stick. Miss it.

We had an earthquake in Buffalo & Western New York

My tax guy lives in OP off Southwestern, he texted our group about it right away. The epicenter was about 1500 feet away from the street off Indian Church where my mom grew up.

    1968 Yenko Camaro RS/SS

I would do almost anything it took to own that vehicle. You don't want to know my limits. :)
