Rant on Centric Premium Rotors the 120-series

Just an update: The brakes were starting to squeak a bit upon light brake pressure, I attributed it to the cheap hardware wearing out that came with the Bendix CT-3 pads. I purchased on rockauto and replaced with Carlson brand with the rubberized coating and squeaks are gone. The Raybestos...

    Help with Gentex mirror wiring

I remember when I installed one of these a while back on when I used to service an Audi A6, I opened up the mirror and I believe the leads were abbreviated with their function where they met on the circuit board. Not sure if this is the case here. Or I could just be remembering the diagram...

New Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3

Mounted a set of these today on a Mercedes in a staggered 225/45R17 and 245/40R17 and they balance nicely; none of the assemblies needed any more than a half-once total to balance out. Overall a a nice tire from an installation standpoint, though I haven't yet driven on them. The asymmetric...

    Truck retreads on the highway

One time I was traveling the freeway and a CHP officer actually stopped traffic. two-lanes worth, during rush hour, to move the 'gator (as we call them) to the shoulder. I've never had one go beside me, but I too have seen plenty of them on the freeways here in California and fortunately have...

    Cutting a "male end" on a 2x4

Are you cutting dimensional lumber? If you're trying to cut an exact 1x4 tenon on a non-dimensional 2x4, you would be cutting less material than one may think. But what others have said should work, and I agree setting up your compound miter saw would produce the most consistent results.

    100k maintenance on a 2004 Chevy 1500 4.3L V6 auto

Thanks Steve. For plugs, Im going with the AC Delcos. I found the correct application for the 4.8L V8 engine, its part number 41-110. $6.04 each on Amazon plus a $2 rebate each. As for the wires, I'm going either the AC Delco or BWD Select based of this in-depth review of wires: Spark Plug Wire...

    Looking for a heat-resistant double-sided tape

TAP Plastics double-sided perm tape it looks like TAP markets something that bonds plastic to plastic, though I'm guessing it's something 3M as I wouldn't think TAP to make their own adhesive tapes. VHB/UHB tapes and looking here it appears there is a higher class of tape than VHB. I am one of...

    Looking for a heat-resistant double-sided tape

I know the stuff you're talking about for the antenna; if I recall correctly from when I installed my DEI antenna on a previous vehicle, it was a gray/dark-gray dense foam tape with red peel liner which would appear to be consistent with the 3M stuff you linked. When I went to Walmart a few...

    100k maintenance on a 2004 Chevy 1500 4.3L V6 auto

When my lady said all she knows about cars is how to put gas in them and drive them, I should have believed her. I took a look at the truck in person today, and what would you know, it's a 4.8L V8 not the V6 she told me over the phone the other day. With that being said, most if not all the...

    100k maintenance on a 2004 Chevy 1500 4.3L V6 auto

Does anyone happen to have a link to a website that shows fluid capacities on this truck? Diff/Trans/Coolant etc And yes, if it has a cabin filter I'll order one I don't think all models came with it depending on trim package. The fuel system cleaner/seafoam isn't a bad idea either. I should...

    100k maintenance on a 2004 Chevy 1500 4.3L V6 auto

The lady just acquired an '04 Chevy 1500 with the 4.3L V6. It has about 108k miles so it's a bit overdue for the 100k maintenance. I haven't yet seen the vehicle so some of this stuff is just general. I'll admit that I haven't yet worked on a Chevy 4.3L V6, but this is what I've come up with so...

    Trying to find pliable washer
