Delvac 1 vs. Rotella T Full Synthetic

In my opinion, if you are only using this in a passenger vehicle, no extreme long term drain intervals with a bypass filter, your engine would never know the difference. The pour points, flash points, and viscosities of both oils are very close and the additive packages in both are almost over...

    66' Sportster XLCH

Congrats on finishing the rebuild! I've rebuilt several bikes of various makes(all air cooled) and I have always used 15W-40 diesel oils for the break in. Never a problem. After breakin I use the M1 15W-50 red cap. I've never done a UOA on them but the bikes have always run cool and smooth.

    Propylene Glycol Alginate

I work for a company that makes medical devices and we use propylene glycol coolant in all our processes that need to be cooled. It is fairly non-toxic and does as good as ethylene glycol as far as we can tell. You can buy it as non-toxic antifreeze at Walmart. I don't remember the brand name...

Can someone explain to me all the hoopla around "German made" Castrol Syntec

Come on everybody! Group hug. Maybe join hands and sing "kume by ya" (I have no idea if that is correctly spelled) [ October 04, 2003, 09:51 PM: Message edited by: garyb80 ]

    Sport-Trans Fluid vs. Mobil 1 75W-90

Well, after looking at all the evidence that was provided by all you good folks and comparing various lubricants, I decided to try the 75W-90 M1 gear lube. (No offense Bob. I do believe you about soluble moly not effecting clutches. I just had the M1 in my garage already.) I drained out the...

    Drain Plug Problem - HELP!!!

If you decide to get it out yourself, the correct way would be to use an EZout. You can buy a set at Sears or some auto parts places. EZouts have saved my butt many times. [ October 04, 2003, 05:35 PM: Message edited by: garyb80 ]

    Robin Engines (Subaru)

I am going to be buying my son a go-cart(my wife still doesn't believe it's for my son) and I saw some with Robin engines. Looking at the spec sheet for the engine, they seem to be very good quality. Does anyone have experience with these engines? Thanks

    Filter Flow Tests?

Whoops, After reviewing the posts, I see it has already been addressed. Sorry to rehash old material.

    Filter Flow Tests?

One thing I have not seen addressed is the fact that an oil pump on an engine is a positive displacement pump, it will put out a set volume of fluid at a given RPM regardless of back pressure. A more restrictive filter may have a greater differential pressure across it but with a positive...

Just bought a BMW, looking for advice

A fellow engineer here where I work has a 325i in the parking lot right now that has >350K on the odeometer. He bought it with about 35K on it and has run only Super Tech 10W-30 since he bought it. He pays no attention to the number of miles between oil changes, he just changes it every six...

    Wal-Mart Super-Tech 15W-40 - Spotted SL/CI-4!

prolly Pennzoil/Shell US made. who knows which formulation it really is however w.out at least a VOA and really a spectrograph analysis. id say its either Rotella T or, Pennzoil LL 15w-40 that wally world got rid of here in the greater atlanta metro area. now that it looks like my 2 mos old VW...

    Sport-Trans Fluid vs. Mobil 1 75W-90

The main reason I was looking for a substitute is I live way out in the boonies and and it is better than a hundred miles to the nearest Harley shop. I was hoping to get something at the local Walmart or auto parts store. The manufacturer recommendations are Harley Sport-Trans Fluid, period, so...

    Sport-Trans Fluid vs. Mobil 1 75W-90

It does say on the info sheet that there is a sulphur-phosphorous additive system but futher down it says it has "Excellent rust, staining and corrosion protection of copper and it's alloys". This transmission has over 36K on it anyway. If it screws up I'll just rebuild the **** thing. I think...

    Sport-Trans Fluid vs. Mobil 1 75W-90

Has anyone here used Mobil 1 75W-90 in a Sportster transmission? I have heard it was a good replacement but I would like to benefit from someone's firsthand experience if possible. Thanks
