Any UOAs on Air-Cooled Hinckley Triumph Twins?

I have to run syn for another year yet (warranty), but Rotella T or Delvac MX are looking pretty good after that.

Any UOAs on Air-Cooled Hinckley Triumph Twins?

Does anyone have some hard numbers to back up oil choice on a newer air-cooled Triumph twin? Triumph spec both a 15W-50 and 10W-40, currently running Amsoil 20W-50 moto. My dealer is adamant that the 50 grade is the only way to go, but since I'm in WI and the cooler circuit has no thermostat I...

    ANOTHER PureOne Filter Tear

Have we determined if this is restricted to just the Classic and PureOne lines, or are the Synthetics affected as well? I will be opening my PSL14459 when it comes off in another 1200 miles, but that's still a couple weeks away.

Are all old Chryslers/Dodges/Jeeps like this?

It's fairly common for the drag link end to wear out on GC's of that age. It results in a lot of slop and wandering when it gets bad. The tie rod adjuster threads also like to rust solid on those so some techs will go out of their way to not adjust the steering unless they absolutely have to.

Which oil filter for 2014 Jeep Cherokee?

Mopar OEM filters have been transitioning to rebranded Wix for the last several years, so I would go there first if you don't buy OEM. I'm sure the Puro will be every bit as good. I believe all those filters are made in South Korea.

Thoughts on ATF+4 in GM 4T60-E

Whitewolf - would you be willing to share some of your data on the different friction coefficients? Nothing proves an oddball idea wrong quite as well as cold, hard facts :-D Annoyingly, my sources give a pretty good account of this for +3 and +4, but nothing on Dexron. The SAE paper I quoted...

Thoughts on ATF+4 in GM 4T60-E

Before the raging firestorm ensues, I know +4 is not the spec fluid for this trans and won't yield any major benefits besides enhanced longevity and more consistent performance. Now, carrying on: Does anyone have prior experience using Mopar ATF+4 in a GM trans that originally spec'd Dex-III? I...

I've always had a soft spot for Bulova. No particular reason why though. They like to play in the 200-500 range as well.

    motorcycle and car oils

Speaking very generally: Bike oils have additives like zinc, phosphorus, boron in greater quantities. They have a reduced level of friction modifiers, if any, to avoid any wet clutch issues. Perhaps the most important thing is that they contain less VI in order to combat shearing in a shared...

    Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners

I would agree with tomcat that most of the Mopar trans issues were pre-ATF+4 (as an aside, check out SAE paper 982674 for more on the improvements +4 brought). They've been pretty solid ever since. Severe service maintenance dictates a trans fluid & filter change at 60k miles which is enough for...

    M1 0w-40 going out of grade in 2500 miles;

Perhaps he should consider a xW-50 oil or more shear stable xW-40, especially if he uses the car primarily for competition. I would be interested to see how something like Mobil 1's 10W-40 motorcycle oil would compare since it's lower in VII.

    OK to use old filters?

I worry mostly about the rubber drying out or the glue used in the media weakening over time.

    OK to use old filters?

The parts dept at work was clearing out old stock today, and suddenly I'm the lucky recipient of 4 older Mopar oil filters. #05012968AA - used on the old AMC V8s. They are obviously Puro Premium Pluses with a different paint job, and were made somewhere around 2000-2003. The nitrile gaskets are...

Kia Rio HVAC not functioning, fuse is good.

There are too many things we don't know. Since it's an 09 it's highly likely that HVAC is integrated with the rest of the vehicle electronics. Off the cuff, I would first look at the HVAC control module and it's bus communications...but that's a wild a$$ guess.
