US Formula 1 Starts with Six Cars!!!!

well, i was in turn 13 on thursday (at least the area coming into the pits). the track was diamond ground for increased traction. it is like a series of rain grooves with very sharp edges. this is not a huge deal when 1) you get to do testing and 2) when you can change tires. i have no doubt...

    2006 Star (Yamaha) Roadliner

the way i see it, there is little originality in cruisers anyway. pretty formulaic. v-twin, chrome, etc... hd has been making the same bikes for 50 years. cruisers are popular, and the japanese are profiting from it as well. anytime anyone releases an "original" cruiser it bombs (bmw, moto...

GM - Union bash or go bust? Economist Article

at final assembly there are generally between 20 and 30 man-hours of labor. this depends on the vehicle and the manufacturer. some of the japanese plants are below 20 hours. i know that most of the places i've been direct labor is between 10~15% of the product cost. the least direct labor i've...

did you see the start to the canadian gp?

yeah, irish. doh! it also seemed like those announcers weren't sure who was driving on several occassions. they were stepping on each others' stories and lines, and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! there was some overtaking, but a lot of it was towards the back of the field. this was a race of attrition. m...

$819 for 3 fuel lines?? Use steel lines???

the thing about replacing the fuel lines is that you may (i'm not sure on the van) have to separate them from the brake lines as well. at one of my (many) employers, we made assemblies of brake and fuel lines, that once assembled, were quite difficult to separate. these fuel lines may also...

did you see the start to the canadian gp?

that was derek daly, btw. scottish. anyway, jpm allegedly left the pits under a red; when the safety car was going by or something. the first time dd said "jpm got screwed" they bleeped it, then let it go the following times. unless dd used some other term for the intercourse...

did you see the start to the canadian gp?

since i'm bitching about tv coverage, speed is showing a motorcycle race from spain. they have mounted ***-cams to several bikes, giving you an excellent view of the rider's arse. pretty cheeky, if you ask me.

did you see the start to the canadian gp?

cbs coverage bites. they need to carry the speed feed on cbs if they are going to continue this. off the line the start is computer controlled so you don't shred tires, spin the car and destroy your neighbors. once the rpms get up the driver is more or less on his own. getting past schumie...

the two renaults just blew past schumacher and button!? that was amazing. it's on cbs right now.

Eagle One Wax As You Dry

waud is a great product to apply in between (real) waxes. i use it after waxing as well; it seems to add a bit of depth (my car is silver). i also use it on my bike, and it's silky smooth. bugs come off quite nicely. it does have a few coats of meg's #26 as well, but it sees a lot of miles...

    fp/lc in carb vs fi

while i haven't been too impressed with the lc/fp combo in my car or bike (both fuel injected), my lawn mower (carbureted) has shown amazing results. there is little to no smoke at startup, where prior there was quite a cloud that lasted for several seconds. the gas mileage has improved...

turbo charged or naturally aspirated most fuel efficient??

same car, different motors subaru impreza 2.5rs (na), 165hp - 23/30 mpg manual, 22/28 mpg auto subaru impreza wrx (2.0 turbo), 227hp - 20/27 mpg manual, 19/26 mpg auto

What do you think of this motorcycle?

the price seems reasonable. if you can get to it, look at brakes and brake lines, fuel lines, any other tubes and hoses for cracking or dry rot. see if it needs new tire immediately. fire it up and listen to it at least. pretty cool if it checks out though.

    Danica Patrick IRL Driver

yeah, i was remembering just that mclaren was running a year old engine, not all the other stuff that surrounded that season. michael flying back to the u.s. between races, all the crashes, etc... not a good example.

    Danica Patrick IRL Driver

actually, she did finish a couple years ago. more impressively, she did it without radio contact for most of the race. sarah fisher never got the equipment that danica patrick had. kind of like michael andretti in f1.

    Shaq is a gentleman!

minor correction; they did know each other. nice si article i'm not a shaq-the-ball-player fan (or genie, or rapper), but he does seem like a good guy.

    Danica Patrick IRL Driver

well, i was at the race, then i watched it again on replay that night. i think that she did a pretty good job overall, but she didn't really have a chance to win. she stayed out and got into first when everyone else pitted. had she gone in for gas, she wouldn't have been in first towards the...

What oil for an '05 Kawasaki ZX-12R?

people i know seem to like the honda oil, though i've never used it myself. the kawachem oil isn't that great in my opinion. my shifting got worse as the miles rolled on. i've always used stuff like golden spectro, maxima, or valvoline motorcycle oil with no problems.
