    a little disappointed with rockauto

Must be your part of the country. I live in a rural area, my local auto parts store is locally owned and excellent. I also frequent a city of 50k people an hour away and know of a few independent stores that are there and supply auto repair shops. Originally Posted By: OilFilters

There are still Buick Veranos to be found on the lots. They are a discontinued model and the dealers are motivated to move them. You can probably get one for your price and have a nice car.

Prefered border crossing MI/ON and why?

I will mix it up and say take the ferry in Marine City. I like the little boat ride and generally no lines and relaxed customs on both sides.

    2015 Cruze Tire Choice Recommendation...

My Verano came with the Continentals and I had 4 flats in 20k miles. I then got rid of them and put on Goodyears and put 50k miles without incident. Keep in mind it's the same size as a Cruze

Long commute -- 4+ hours per day

I've never had a shorter commute than an hour and I once was driving 4 hours a day to make 35 grand a year to be a teacher. Yes, it was crazy, but I already owned a home with my wife jobs are not forthcoming here.

    Oil for aging Canyon

I have the same truck with 263,000 miles. I put a junkyard transmission into it recently because $700 installed more than was worth it to keep it available for a second vehicle. My engine has made the rattling noise you describe for year. I just run Wolf's Head 10-30 in it year round because I...

Dare we PURSUE this classic VW BEETLE ??

You have to buy one and understand you're buying an old car. Having said this, if I bought one to actually use the first thing I would do is buy disc brakes for all 4 corners. My car stops amazing.

Dare we PURSUE this classic VW BEETLE ??

I own a '74 Super Beetle. Anyway, I see a car with worrisome rust at the front pillar where it hits the heater channel. I see lame fenders and other hacks and cheap parts. You can do better.
