    10mm magnetic 1/4 socket recommendation

Opinions on the quality will vary, but at least someone has thought of it: https://www.harborfreight.com/10mm-metric-essential-socket-set-10-piece-58957.html

Ultra low profile 1/4 10mm socket options

This issue seems to be resolved, but these wrench adapters for sockets are cheap and can be handy to have as well: https://www.harborfreight.com/3-piece-square-drive-socket-caps-67011.html

Deep vs. Regular Impact Socket choice

If you're already coming straight on a fastener with an impact wrench, there is probably a good amount of room. I would always start with a set of deep impact sockets if you can only choose one.

    Cleaning a Mity Vac

I'm fairly new to the Mityvac game, but I have made up a small amount of hot, soapy water with Dawn dish soap and 'extracted it' into the Mityvac. This was done mostly just to clean the inside of the hoses and seemed to do a decent job. I've also poured brake cleaner in from the top and swished...

    Counterfeit Tool Batteries

If Amazon and a 3rd party are selling the same product SKU, they all get mixed up in the warehouse and you never know what you're going to get.

    New tool thread

I can never bring myself to trust those things. I've had one for years (not a Bosch) but if I'm measuring something, I want to see it on the tape. Mine does go to 80 meters (allegedly) but I've never tried any great distances.

It's interesting to hear that the Mopar dual-cap reservoir is so rare out in the field. Those are extremely common in drag racing when retrofitting 4-wheel disc brakes on old cars of all makes.

Need new brake Bleeder one man tool.

I just bought a Motive a couple weeks ago and have been debating the method I want to use. It seems like it could be more of a hassle to remove the adapter from the MC a few times to refill than it would be to clean the can. It also seems likely to overfill the MC slightly if dispensing fluid...

    First OBD scanner

I used Torque Pro on Android, and have since switched to Car Scanner on Apple. At least at my knowledge level, it seems to be at least on par with Torque Pro.

$329 torque wrench at Harbor Freight

I know the general rules of accuracy at the far reaches of range, but I use my 20-150 lb/ft 1/2" wrench at 20 or 25 ALL THE TIME! Tire beadlock ring bolts on my dragster, valve cover bolts on my daughters' GM 1.4T engines, etc. I wouldn't do that without verifying accuracy with the vise and fish...

$329 torque wrench at Harbor Freight

What I bought it for was to torque head bolts on the single-cylinder flathead engines on my kids' junior dragster engines to 12.5 lb/ft or 150 inch pounds. My kids have aged out of those, and I tend to go with hand feel for drain plugs, spark plugs, etc. I will use a torque wrench in cases where...

$329 torque wrench at Harbor Freight

Really, I just wanted to try correcting it myself to go through the procedure and see how well I can do it. By "good enough", I'm going to try to make it as accurate as possible while knowing it likely won't be to the level that a calibration lab could achieve. If I needed absolute precision...

$329 torque wrench at Harbor Freight

I have a 3/8" that is way off. I want to try to calibrate it myself (to "good enough") but haven't gotten around to it yet. Last time I was at HF, I was at the register when another customer walked in and handed a 3/8" torque wrench to the cashier. She said "go grab one off the shelf" to which...

    retractable air hose reel recommendations

I've had this one for 4 years. It's been good. A good friend had his a couple years before and I don't think he had any issues either. https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/dino-hide-3-8-in-retractable-air-hose-reel/0000000265695

    Need help understanding torx types

Two of my daughters have GM 1.4 Turbo cars with the problematic valve covers, held on with E10 bolts. I was able to use Craftsman splined sockets on those and it was just fine. Not sure I'd want to do that with larger, tighter bolts.

    New tool thread

Good score! I searched my app and saw that my store had it, and also a breaker bar for $6. I dropped my daughter off at dance and then went across the street to Walmart, but now everything is showing full price. :-(

Ratcheting Wrenches - which styles do you use?

I have the standard length non-reversible GearWrench, and some real cheap flex head Pittsburghs that are only used if absolutely needed. When I need to use the open end, I always go for the old raised panel Craftsman wrenches.

    Your favorite tool box colors

This guy gets it. I have a couple Craftsman Quiet Glide boxes, and they have been good, but that hammer drawer really takes some effort to open/close. Honestly though, I was never gonna spring for ball bearing back when I bought them. Actually, I received the real basic Craftsman boxes as a...
