Battle of silicone greases for caliper slide pins

While I agree with you, 3M states on their website to use it for brake slide pins, and both of the ACDelco/Raybestos says brake lubricants on the bottles.

Battle of silicone greases for caliper slide pins

As many of you may have seen already, Im in the search for new greases for brake jobs here and there. I thought this might need its own post- since its specific. The general consensus is to use a "dielectric" silicone grease ( lack of a better word, I know... ) on the pins. Many recommend the...

Looking for a Sil-Glyde replacement for brakes...

Hmm lol. So I just found out that I SHOULDN'T have greased my wifes caliper pins. Its that style where the pin is exposed slightly/ semi floating... Its the ATE caliper style. So Im thinking Im going to have to get back in there and remove that grease. I used Sil-Glyde and just a bit, not too...

Looking for a Sil-Glyde replacement for brakes...

I did see that not too long ago today... but my worries is that the heat could cause it to thin out and sling/migrate off of the face... what ya think?

Looking for a Sil-Glyde replacement for brakes...

What about on brake pad ears/abutment clips? ( Although I think Id leave the clips alone... ) Also need something for the wheel to rotor hat/rotor to hub interface to ward off rust. From just reading for a while, looks like Pastelub is the go to for that use. But I can use THAT also for the...

Looking for a Sil-Glyde replacement for brakes...

so my tube is pretty much done, and wondering with the advancements in lubricants, is there something better as an all around brake grease? Im not one to grease the back of the pads as I think the rubber shims do their job. But Im looking for something for the slide pins, contact points etc. Id...

Best cleaner for rough cold idle?

Let me ask you guys this... Put a tank of 93 in it, the CEL has been out for two days and idles smoother. And the kicker is that it passed emissions just now. Does that sound like it needs a combustion chamber cleaner or something? Carbon'd up inside the engine maybe? Edited: the last few...

Best cleaner for rough cold idle?

I did not change that module out... I changed it the complete pump assy. I drive 45 mins a day to work with it. It's my commuter, I'm trying to keep it as long as possible. Lol. I have a new 6.7 diesel on the weekend. Filter is within the pump itself. 190k miles. Burns about a quart it tad...

Best cleaner for rough cold idle?

I have checked for vacuum leaks using starter fluid - nothing. New plus are in there too, oem ones. Might try the cheap copper ones. I need the light off for emissions. Throttle body is clean and looks clean... Bought an oem MAF , same problem.

Best cleaner for rough cold idle?

2005 Nissan Sentra 2.5l. Owned it since day one... So it's been going on for a year. P1237 code. I've replaced everything that the code calls for. It's a super generic code.... New fuel pump, bank 1 sensor 1, evap solenoid, coils etc. Runs great and gets good fuel mileage, but at cold idle ...

    2019 Ford PS 6.7 - 5w40 or 10w30... Syn or not...

I think I might be misunderstanding you. There is a light/monitor that tells you for fuel as well? I thought there was only an oil life monitor...

    2019 Ford PS 6.7 - 5w40 or 10w30... Syn or not...

Hey Roadrunner - I had that 6.0 and you helped me with running that JD 10w30 oil in it. Though the injectors didnt seem to like it, I appreciate your insight. I thought it had 10w30 in it... I think I'll do fuel filters once a year regardless of mileage ( not over 15k as I wont do that ) and...

    2019 Ford PS 6.7 - 5w40 or 10w30... Syn or not...

Im sure you've heard the rumor about switching to syn too early before its "broken in"... Right? I never bought much into it, but then again Ive never looked into it neither. I would think a synthetic would help lessen wear, but during break-in.. things are going to wear regardless. They have to.

    2019 Ford PS 6.7 - 5w40 or 10w30... Syn or not...

I get it - I could be throwing money away etc... Money isnt an issue because I change this oil so infrequently. I dont put many miles on it and when I do its typically mostly highway - never short-tripped either. At worst case its a mix between city ( think neighborhood driving ) and highway...

Help on ford oils- Just got back from dealer...

So I just had my first free oil change done by the dealer, I tried to call but I got the hold please... So I figured Id end up here anyway. This would be for my 2019 6.7 What they used was this part number: XO 10w30 BSD . From what I gathered its discontinued, so how does that work? Also, I...
