    HST vs Ranger T

I went through a myriad of carry rounds in my career... 9mm Federal 124gr Hydra-shok Winchester 147gr subsonic Winchester/Federal 115gr +P+ Winchester 127gr SXT +P+ .45 Winchester 230gr Golden Saber Upon retiring, I qualify yearly with a local department (not the one I worked at), so I...

Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Polish & Car Wax?

From the Hybrid Solutions Line, if what you want is a one-step, cleaner with protection, I say the Ceramic Polish & Wax. It really deep cleans the paint well, deals with minor swirls & imperfections nicely and leaves protection behind. As with any 'All-In-One,' it isn't exceptional in either...

Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Polish & Car Wax?

I'm also a fan of Turtle Wax's Hybrid Solutions. For OTC products, they perform very well and give good results at a fairly low cost. I've personally moved on to actual Ceramic Coatings & their related care-products, but still think you could do worse than Hybrid Solutions. This is my...

    Ford Escape w/6F35 transmission issues

Since I did the drain & fill with Valvoline Extended Performance ATF, the shifts have been fine.

Changes To Emission Rules (video news)

It would be great for me, as my car (2017 Camaro) will not Smog Test ... the EPA computer says the car is: "Not Ready To Test." I have gotten that result SIX times in 2024 alone, it's not FAILING the test, it just "Isn't Ready." That means I can't renew my plates come September. No check engine...

    Upgrading halogen to LED headlights

I TRIED to use LEDs in my 5th gen Camaro, that had halogen headlights (reflector and clear lens) and it was a disaster. Looking AT the lights, it was a lot brighter, but the beam-pattern was non-existent - couldn't see a thing, quickly went back to halogens. HOWEVER ... my 6th gen Camaro has...

Another reason to do oil change yourself.

Possible, but very unlikely. I just got back into doing my own changes, and when I did my wife's Escape last month, the drain plug had been put on by an 800lb gorilla AND totally rounded off, forcing me to buy a set of sockets made for rounded bolts. Fortunately, the filter had been properl;y...

    Tell me about fog lights

My headlights (with the H7 LED bulbs) work extremely well ... directly ahead of the car. The beams are insanely tight, and therein lies the problem. No light at all to the sides, so my off-set driving lights are needed to light up the sides of the roads.

    Ford Escape w/6F35 transmission issues

Today's Update: It is not the transmission. The Service Advisor called me about an hour after they took the Escape back for diagnostic checks. She asked if I could come in and go on a test drive with the tech, because he couldn't replicate the issue(s). About ten minutes later, we were pulling...

    Ford Escape w/6F35 transmission issues

This morning's update: The Escape is being dropped of for "Early Bird" service at the dealership. When I called the service department, you could tell the advisor KNEW exactly what I was talking about when I described the shift hesitation and how I can feel through the gas pedal the "vibrations...

    Ford Escape w/6F35 transmission issues

UPDATE: You're supposed to be able to check the fluid by lifting the car up just enough to remove the LF tire/wheel, then lower the jack so that the car is at its correct ride height (for me, that's having the side trim @ 16.5" from the ground). However, Ford is STILL using those TRASH...

    Ford Escape w/6F35 transmission issues

Apparently, but they did away with the dipstick and "easy" fill-ability through the dipstick tube, to discourage a Do-It-Yourself type person from doing maintenance on the transmission. Had it not been for YouTube, I never would have known about the "vent cap" that doubles as a fill port and...

    Ford Escape w/6F35 transmission issues

My exact plan for today ... take the wife to work and check out the noises/vibrations. Put the car up & confirm fluid level, if properly filled, make appointment w/dealership.

    Ford Escape w/6F35 transmission issues

My wife's 2013 Escape (2.0 turbo, 6F35 transmission, FWD, bought with 59,000mi - current mileage, 93,000) is showing some issues. I was driving her to work, and while accelerating to get on the highway, the engine hit 4k rpms during acceleration, but then didn't upshift when I let off the gas...

If you could change one thing on your daily driver what would it be?

The shoulder seat belt. I really miss the old days, when you could pull out the shoulder belt a few inches and have it 'latch' a bit loose. My previous 5th Gen and current 6th Gen Camaros keep the shoulder belt under tension at all times, which makes it dig into my neck.

    LED Lighting

I replaced the Halogen bulbs (H7) in my Camaro with Sylvania H7 LEDs. With PROPER alignment ... they are literally a night/day difference in how well I can see (especially in full-dark rural areas) and since I have projector headlight lenses, that have a razor-sharp vertical cut off, *I* was...

    Tell me about fog lights

As you all can see from my profile pic, I installed aftermarket pencil-beam driving lights behind the grill on my '17 Camaro. The reasoning is that I have aftermarket projector headlights, which have a very tight beam in themselves and leave the sides almost totally dark (as do the factory...

    Failed stock shifter bushings on 6th Gen (2016 - 2024) Camaro V6 / 4-Turbo manual transmission- FIX

My "New to Me" 2017 Camaro 2LT had seem some pretty rough (Ab)use from the previous owner. One of the 'victims' of the suspected abuse were the stock (plastic) shifter bushings. They were totally destroyed and made shifting hit and miss, very sloppy, hard to find the gears, etc. The guys at...

    MIA since 2016 ... I'm back - with a (subjective) observation

Update on the 'Ticking" from my wife's Escape ... it is completely gone! She has about 700 miles on the R&P now and I have a few miles over 800. A friend suggested that since my V6 is a VVT engine, the R&P might very well have cleaned out the oil passages to the VVT solenoids, making them...
