    How's this for glossy paint?

Depending on if I use the rotary or the DA and how many passes I do. 1 - 2 passes with the rotary = high gloss, light cut. 2 - 3 passes with the DA = medium to heavy correction. The waffle runs cooler than a flat pad (cooler is good) and conforms to curves & emblems better for even polishing.

    How's this for glossy paint?

Don't guve me any more ideas ... In a month or so, I'm going to get DIY Hydro Lite and coat the car with that ... 6+ year rated.

    How's this for glossy paint?

The polishing about 20 minutes since it was just a light enhancement. Applying the Ceramic Gloss took about an hour or so, because I was in no hurry and listening to some music on YouTube.

That too LOL, but I am obsessed with a clean car.

    How's this for glossy paint?

I used the DIY DETAIL system. Gold Standard Polish on a yellow waffle pad, speed 2.5 on a DA polisher for enhancement and Ceramic Gloss spray applied with a foam UFO wax applicator pad.

    How's this for glossy paint?

Not too bad for an 8 year old car with 87K miles

    How to correct these swirls?

To be honest, if the pics are as accurate as you say, then personally - I wouldn't even think of a heavy polish or an aggressive pad. Those marks you are seeing aren't worth going after and removing the paint to make them "go away." 3800Series has a good point about paints being thinner and...

Yvan Larcoix came to MY house yesterday!!!

He and Sylvie were very down-to-earth, great people. The fact that they so frequently go out of their way to meet his customer/fan base and just chat with them (and in my case, interview me for his 'Garage Audit' YouTube video) speaks volumes.

Yvan Larcoix came to MY house yesterday!!!

I'm pretty sure the mitt he sells isn't quite what you're thinking it is. I've never looked that close at it, to be sure. As for the orange peel, if the panel isn't PERFECTLY flat, if the paint had no orange peel, the waves in the metal would be glaringly obvious and not look too good.

Yvan Larcoix came to MY house yesterday!!!

He took my + 40 years of detailing knowledge confusion, turned it upside-down, shook it up a bit, and that allowed me to put things in a usable, sensible train of thought that, #1 Made detailing FUN again, and #2 Shot my skill set to an unbelievably high level, and #3 Made me so much faster and...

Yvan Larcoix came to MY house yesterday!!!

I'm STILL in shock! I've been detailing my cars (for better or worse) since I was 16 with my first car. The detailing bug bit me at about that time, when I worked at a car wash. I'd see cars transform from 'filthy' to 'clean,' and it was so satisfying. Even though back then, all I saw was...

I won free detailing DA polisher

I had messaged Yvan Lecroix a few times in the past, just to chat. About a week and a half ago, he messaged me asking what email I'd used to order products (my cynical self was screaming "SCAM," but I gave it anyway). He said he needed to confirm something. That they were giving a random...

    Why relay placement is important

I was being cheap and in a hurry. The ones from Summit Racing weren't sealed like that, so I used liquid electrical tape and filled the wire-side of the pigtail with it. In the past, I had used gasket sealer from a tube and was able to inject the seal;er into the openings. This time, I also...

    Why relay placement is important

Several months ago, I installed some LED driving lights on my 2017 Camaro, because while the headlights do a great job of FORWARD illimination, the projector beams do little for side illimination (like none). Surprisingly, Tractor Supply had a really good set of LEDs (of course the lights, 'Y'...

    Is rinseless wash really safe?

I can appreciate your comment. I'm less than a year into using rinseless washes (DIY Detail - Rinseless wash, specifically) after 40+ years of only hearing rumors of RW myself, and Yvan Lacroix (Founder/Owner) of DIY Detail OFTEN states that the SAFEST way to 'rinseless wash' is to prespray...

    Is rinseless wash really safe?

I agree with the 'tad dirty' part - IF there is no water available. However on the DIY Detail YouTube channel, they have (safely) cleaned quite a few really nasty cars with their rinseless and one quick rinse.

    Is rinseless wash really safe?

Why are we arguing over terminology? I never said it wasn't designed for use when water wasn't available, but a waterless wash may be the better option if you have NO access to water - for a lightly dirty car. If water is available, then the 'pre-soak. rinse, soak, contact wash' is the safest...
