There is a nice 'burn-in' utility called 'Memtest' that will really stress the RAM and make sure it won't conk out at a critical time (editing a term paper). 'PC Wizard' is also a nice utility to see the characteristics of your machine and offers some benchmarking to see if you are better off...

All memory will be run at the same speed by the BIOS - if you have 2 sticks at PC3200 and 1 at PC2700, all three will run at PC2700. The extra 512MB of RAM will allow all applications to run faster so I don't think you will notice a huge difference between PC2700 and PC3200.

A lot of older mobo's don't like high-density RAM (single sided) that may be an issue. If the double sided (low density) RAM works that is even more suspicious... Any friends that you can borrow a stick or two of RAM to test this theory?

There are currently two decent deals on oil: Advance Auto parts 5qts Mobil1 plus Mobil1 filter for $29.99 and AutoZone 5 quarts of Quaker State FULL Synthetic Oil and Bosch Filter for $26.99 Based on peoples experiences, is it better to go with either deal over the other or maybe do both?
