I compared the overall height of the Fram FE10158 to the TRD #PTR43-00079 and on the workbench the TRD filter sits about 1/8 inch taller. However the inside diameters are different so probably sit on taper in the housing and cap. Stuff like this should not be something the consumer/technician...

Been using the TRD filter, but no longer available. I might just run the Toyota 04152-YZZA5 and not look back. It seems to work fine for all the normal people that don’t obsess about this stuff. A filter that fits right and doesn’t fail and $5 a piece is fair. Never heard of problems with this...

Now i am afraid to use the Fram Endurance in the 4Runner. Bought it, just didn’t install yet.

I hope the Endurance I just got doesn’t do that in my 4Runner.

I would! 5w-30 or 10w-30. Especially if you do any spirited driving!

I have seen this before and it was the little vent hole on the fuel cap clogged with dirt. But the one I fixed starved itself for fuel after 3-4 minutes of run time. I cleaned it out with a small drill bit after temporarily moving the rubber piece under the cap.

I have seen discrepancies as well. ie. For a 18 Toyota 4Runner, recommending 5w-20 instead of owners manual spec of 0w-20.

I thought Honda used 2 small screws per rotor to keep them in position. At least that is how my 06 odyssey and 07 accord are with the 2 screws. I don’t recognize the piece.

I like it a lot. My BIL got the 24 Yukon AT4 (same engine and trans.) in January. Does soccer dad duty as well as long runs. He runs it hard and puts it away wet on a regular basis. No TLC. I am watching to see how it holds up. He only does minimal maintenance and it is being run in Michigan so...

I run 0w-20 Amsoil SS. But I see winter temperatures and also it doesn’t, get driven hard. I do 7500miles/1 yr intervals.

Odd that it suddenly started using oil, rather than gradually started using more. Clogged PCV? Stuck oil control rings. I wonder what the recall addresses? Or is this a service bulletin, may want an opinion from another dealer. I would think would be covered under the 10 year/100,000mile...

Are new lines still available or will they need to be custom made? How difficult to change?
