    TCW3 in Diesel

Funny you mention that. My VW had this metal locking flap on the fuel cap (To prevent accidental filling with gas)... I had to buy a $20 plastic override thing to open the fuel filler... Bought a ~16 ounce translucent catsup bottle that had graduated markings on it... Dumped the Redline in...

    TCW3 in Diesel

FWIW: I had a VW tdi and always was a little worried about a $,$$$ fuel system failure... Thinking the ULSD would takes its toll post 100k. I kept a bottle of this and added like 1 oz to each tank. Can't remember what the ratio was. For 90k miles I can't say one way or another if it...

Things you have to do to new cars that you didn't have to do with old cars.

Worry that a pot hole will = a ~$400 rim plus a $200+ tire replacement

Things you have to do to new cars that you didn't have to do with old cars.

Know that most likely in about 5 years the headlights will turn yellow

How Many Coolant Block Drains IS350?

Is this basically the same as the Tacoma 3.5L V6? If so, the Tacoma has two; one on each side, about center line, midway back; underneath the exhaust manifolds... Passenger side requires some wiggling.... had to use good lighting to find it, then by feel to actually losen as your hand and the...

    2017 Macan?

IIRC, there was a way to cross reference many VW / Audi / Porsche part #s, then go order the same part from VW at a lower rate

Advice needed on establishing 10 gal fish tank

I suspect your cleanings are killing most of your good bacteria faster than it can develop let alone do its real job of "Eating" waste. small tank will naturally be harder to keep balanced. There just isn't enough economies of scale Focus on the biological and keeping it alive o No more than...

How are ICON non slip wrenches?

Would be a contender if they were available in 6 point To answer your other question: I backfilled and added to my tools from ~ 2019-2022. Very happy with the USA SK. I had to shop hard to find a decent deal (i.e. multiple on-line stores, wholesalers, eBay) Now they are made in PRC crap...

Low smoke 2 stroke Outboard Oil

Assuming there is no kind of adjustment; maybe try some kind top shelf dirt bike oil (Motul): probably 2-3x the cost, but how much do you really use? If an extra $5 makes your time with the girl more enjoyable 100% its worth it.

Question using same filter for 2 oil changes

The idea sounds crazy to me... However my '08 Yamaha Roadliner manual actually calls for oil change every 3k and filter every 6k. If that is your vision, 100% use the top shelf filter of your choice, don't touch it until your replace it.

Photo thread for tacky car mods

Sorry, no photo, but those decals car dealers put on every vehicle they sell are ghetto as hell (They used to be actual [cheap] emblems. (Usually coupled with license plate frames). 1st order of business with any new acquisition is removal. Honorary Mention: unnecessary emblems (i.e. "V6"...

    Amsoil Oil Sample pump

We had really nice ones in the Army for many years. Came with a roll of disposable tubing; cut off a few feet; suck; squirt; throw-away... I guess maybe a few pennies could be saved by cleaning the tubing, but what's the real return on investment and if were measuring [oil] for contamination...

Looking to buy Handheld Blower Echo PB-2520 vs PB-255ln or others ?

ETA: It goes without saying dealer support can make all the difference in the world. My Stihl dealer is a locally owned independent with their own shop. Always friendly, willing to help and good deals on rentals. I almost bought a entry level chainsaw last year; the guy asks me about my use...

Looking to buy Handheld Blower Echo PB-2520 vs PB-255ln or others ?

Love my new Sthil; under $190 out the door with tax, a seasons worth of fuel and extended warranty. A few ounces of fuel every other use; easier than charging a battery. Come fall if I need it for extended leaf duty it could run as long as needed. starts with very little effort. light...

Can you even buy a "bad" oil anymore? Even cheap syn is great!

Two persons I know (NOT mechanical or "Car" types) basically refuse to consider service until / unless the dash light comes on. IMO this is too long. 100% these types of people should use a premium oil... but I'm pretty sure they just use whatever bulk oil is offered. Hopefully they are...

    Battery recommendations

Same: High turnover (= fresh battery for you), fair price, excellent return policy, if you move or on VAC pretty much every city has a COSTCO. FWIW: Same theory would apply for Walmart... That's what I did with my kids car (00's Honda Fit) before she moved across country just so she could have...

    Tire Recommendations and Experiences

100% satisfied with the last couple sets of top shelf Continental passenger tires (Sorry don't remember the model, last ones were Extreme {x} DWS I think) Hard no on BMW oem run flats: very fragile, unrepairable and wore out <30k miles. (Bridgestones I think) Will definetly not buy Nitto...

3 cars stolen, small condo, one night

There is not enough deterrence. If thieves were more afraid of [likely] repercussions like jail, fines, loss of income, shame, beat-downs, future opportunities and possibly being maimed or killed there would be less theft. How we get there? I don't know. All this modern tech, cameras...
