    Another oil from Valvoline…

I'll try and send out a VOA to Polaris soon. This oil has a very pungent odor almost like gear oil. It's not your typical "sweet" smelling Mobil 1 or Pennzoil

Oil Temp in Stop and Go Traffic

On my stock RAMs engine, I would see up to 235 going up a grade at 70 with it being 110 out. Normally it would sit around 215. After I cammed it and installed the hellcat pump, I would sit around 226-228 and it would go up to 240. Hottest I ever saw was 250 ish when my thermostat failed...

Pros/Cons of using a HDEO vs a Full Saps PMCO 40wt

Hi all, Some of you may remember my high FE HEMI Mobil 1 0w40 thread.... The issue ended up being the hardening layer of the cam wore off, everything else looked fairly good. The engine got a comp 224/234 cam (over .600 lift) as well as a complete timing and head job with a hellcat oil pump...

0w20 vs 5w20 in hot weather

I’ve noticed this. 0w20 in my hemi cooled off from 226 to 213 very very quickly vs 0w40 took a lot longer.

Oil handling procedures - Do you practice them?

I’m incredibly paranoid about dirt getting into my engine. I spray my funnel with brake clean then wipe it out (rinse and repeat like 5 times)

    Mobil 1 FS 0w40, RAM 1500 5.7L HEMI 6000 mi, high FE

Most emission testing is just plugging into the OBD port now. Needs to see all monitors complete. Diablosport intune i3 tunes are actually carb certified, so the change in CVN will likely pass if you shut off MDS and MDS only in hp tuners. It isn’t a fail if the CVN doesn’t match factory...

    Mobil 1 FS 0w40, RAM 1500 5.7L HEMI 6000 mi, high FE

Yea almost zero chance this is lubrication related. This likely would have happened no matter the brand or weight used.

    Mobil 1 FS 0w40, RAM 1500 5.7L HEMI 6000 mi, high FE

Well aware of this. You can’t use the MDS lifters with the camshaft I selected (comp 224/234.)

    Mobil 1 FS 0w40, RAM 1500 5.7L HEMI 6000 mi, high FE

Yes it’s easy, these are non MDS lifters going in so I will disable it in HP tuners

    Mobil 1 FS 0w40, RAM 1500 5.7L HEMI 6000 mi, high FE

No. Comp cams kit was $1500 + the gaskets and all. $500 for both heads to be redone.

Of course, they are going in with the cam as well as pushrods and a complete head job.

That video there isn’t mine, but mine also has done it since I got it at 60k. Interestingly enough, it is worse on thicker oils for me. Whatever it is, it doesn’t seem to effect anything. The bores on mine look freshly honed making piston slap not a likely source either. When the new cam goes in...
