Is Mobil 1 FS 0w-40 now API SP rated? Good for LSPI prevention?

I said on paper because from my understanding , the FS 0w40 is a full saps oil, and I don’t see how a full saps oil can get the SP rating. The oil has both A3/B4 and API SP rating. And since it’s now SP rated, is it now a mid saps oil? Or is it still a full saps oil, and if so how is it an SP oil?

Is Mobil 1 FS 0w-40 now API SP rated? Good for LSPI prevention?

I’ve seen a thread recently that was titled “M1 0w40 vs Castrol 0w40” and in there OVERKILL mentioned M1 FS 0w40 is now SP rated. The PDS from M1’s website now meantions that the FS 0w40 now meets or exceeds API SN+ and SP. So does that mean the calcium content has been decreased, and/or the...

Why higher iron wear with some makes

It seems most pushrod OHV engines generally have higher wear metals on UOA’s, compared to a lot of OHC engines. I think we can kind of all agree on this. Pushrod engines have more valvetrain friction by design. That’s the reason why we generally see higher wear ppm in general with pushrod...

    0W20 for good protection?

Nope. It’s a daily driver. And I know it isn’t sitting at the bottom of the oil pan. I don’t know where people are getting this “liqui moly mos2 sits on the bottom of the oil pan and does not mix with oil” thing. I’ve looked inside oil pans with borscope cameras just to see if the mos2 sits...

    0W20 for good protection?

I’ve been using 20 weight oils since day one until about 95k miles in my 2010 Ford Taurus SHO with the 3.5 eco boost. Ford recommended 5w20 in 2010 SHO’s and switched to 5w30 starting 2011 model year. I’ve always used 5w20 and 0w20 in my car because ford recommended 5w20 for my 2010 MY car...

Acura TL - 3.7 need oil type change to slow consumption

My buddy’s got a beater Acura TL with that engine. Engine has about 295k miles. He use to run 5w20 in it and it burned about half a quart per 2k miles. The engine really needs to be replaced but he’s just gonna run it till it stops running and then junk it. So lately he’s been using whatever...

    Jiffy Lube, 21 Bronco

Never trust goofy lube. That's why I do my own fluid changes that way I know it's done right. Never heard good things about jiffy lube. Nowadays, i just can't trust anyone but myself.

Has PAO % of Mobil 1 0W20 EP been Reduced?

They also completely removed "PAO" from EP 5w30 SDS earlier this month. Nobody can really tell us why, or what made M1 remove or even lower the concentration of PAO on their SDS's. Of course, we will never know the all of the actual ingredients or the concentration of each ingredients that goes...

Looks like M1 EP 5w30 formulation has possibly changed.

That's why I said we won't know what they're hiding because of "trade secret" type of reasoning, but I and many other people just don't see why they would remove something they used to list on their SDS.

Looks like M1 EP 5w30 formulation has possibly changed.

I was just browsing on Mobil 1's website today and decided to look at the Safety Data sheet for the Mobil 1 EP 5w30. It looks like the SDS was revised on June 8, 2022, which is two days ago. I remember looking at the EP 5w30 SDS couple months ago and I know I saw 1-DECENE, TETRAMER AND TRIMER...

2022 Corolla Cross HPL PP 0W8 16,723 Miles

Now get ready for comments like: "But.. but... Anything thinner than 15w40 was supposed to be too thin to protect an engine! The engine was supposed to blow up with 0w8. There is no way the uoa looks that good! It has to be made up." Sadly, thousands of bitogers think like this ☝️☝️. People...

Do you guys regularly clean the throttle body?

I do it about every 10k miles just because it's easy and I don't mind doing it this often. I have a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO with the 3.5 ecoboost. Super easy to remove it and clean it. My throttle body is always pretty clean because I have an oil catch can that catches most of the oil that would...

3rd oil change, noticed something different....

My 3.5 ecoboost does not like pp. My engine just drinks up PP, about half a quart/3-4k miles. I've tried 5w20 and 5w30. My engine eats both PP oils, about half a quart/3-4k miles. Mobil 1 EP 0w20 seems to be the best for my engine. Does not eat ANY oil, and the level stays exactly the same even...

Castrol Edge Extended Performance: Tested in Ford F150?

I remember reading an article couple years ago that said something like Castrol did test their EP oil on a 3.5 Ecoboost. That basically means Castrol was able to get the Ford WSS-MC***** oil spec certification. What Castrol is really saying is their oil tested good enough and within the limits...

    Are you brand loyal?

I'm "kind of" loyal to Mobil 1. I've used Mobil 1 EP 5w20 and EP 0w20 for 3-4 years straight in my 3.5 Ecoboost. Recently I've been trying out other brands such as Royal Purple and Pennzoil just to try different brands out, but I always find myself going back to Mobil 1. I personally find...

5W20 or 5W30 Another Ford question

I have the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO with the 3.5 TGDI Ecoboost with 100k miles and Ive been using 0w20 and 5w20 in this engine since 2010. Ford actually recommended 5w20 for my engine in the 2010 MY. Ford recommended 5w20 for the non turbo 3.5 duratec that same MY. In 2011, Ford started...
