    Post Your Latest Coolant Change.

2001 Chevy S10 Blazer 4x4 with the 4.3 Vortec. 103k miles. Out: Unknown nasty orange dexcool, looked rusty. The engine is made out of cast iron, so a little bit of rust in coolant isn’t too much of a concern. Whole lot of nasty stuff on the bottom of the coolant overflow tank. Had to remove...

    Latest Valvoline Boutique Oil?

I’ve seen it at a Walmart on the other side of my town. $60 for a 12 quart garage box. Didn’t buy it. I’ll wait till I see some reviews on Bitog. But I haven’t seen one at my towns Walmart yet. I’ve also seen it on Amazon. It was $32 for a 5 quart jug. I would love to try it out on my 4.3...

Painted Caliper Safe Cleaning Product ?

All you need is Purple power. Buy some concentrated purple power. They are cheap compared to stuff made by car detailing companies. Dilute it with water, spray it on the caliper, get a brush and agitate it. Then rinse. Purple power works great on wheels, wheel wells, calipers, and just about...

    Post your latest oil change

2001 Chevy S10 Blazer 4x4 4.3L Vortec. 103k miles. Out: Unknown oil with unknown miles with a NAPA filter. I just ran with it for about 400 miles after I bought this car. But I decided to change it because oil pressure was a little low especially when hot idling. There was zero visible metal...

rear main/oil pan leak got worse, move to 10w30? or switch to conventional?

I was just gonna recommend Blue Devil Rear main sealer too! I’ve heard many great things about those. It seems like they really do work. Won’t hurt to try it out. Just use any 40 weight oil with the blue devil and run it for a couple hundred miles, and see if the leak slows down. I would use...

Do you have a go to rotor/pads combo you like?

I like Detroit Axle drilled and slotted rotors, and their ceramic pads. They work great, look great, last a long time, they’re affordable, and are their ceramic pads are low dust. Detroit Axle products are made in China. The name sounds American, but its just the name that’s American. I had...

Using ACEA C3 Oil where SN and SN Plus is required

ACEA C3 is mid or low Saps, meant for gas engines and light duty diesel engines. C3 also has to have HTHS greater than 3.5. M1 ESP is low saps, so it will be fine for engines that need API SN or SN+. Use it in your Subaru with no worries.

0w40 SP Mobil 1 in TGDI engines???

I recently put in some Castrol Edge Euro 5w30 A3/B4 oil in my 3.5 Ecoboost. It’s High saps, and rated as API SL. 5w30 Castrol edge Euro is very high in calcium (about 2600ppm based on the only UOA I can find on a BMW forum) which according to API, high calcium is what causes LSPI in a lot of...

    Lets talk wipers

I use PIAA silicone wiper blades on my cars and they last years and work very well. The last time I put one on one of my cars was 4 years ago. I live in South Carolina so suns UV is very strong most of the year, and we get lots of rain. Car is parked outside all year round, the wiper blades...

Post your latest oil purchase or even filter.

Got some Castrol Edge 0w-20 (black bottle) for my 3.5 Ecoboost, and threw in a can of Liqui Moly Molybdenum additive in the engine just because I got like 8 cans of it for dirt cheap on eBay. Also got some Fram Ultra Synthetic XG10575, direct alternative to Motorcraft FL500S.

M1 FS Euro 0w40 now API SP, Pour point raised per latest PDS

Mobil 1 actually had the API SP listed on their meets or exceeds chart for the FS 0w40 about 3-4 months ago, and then they took the SP away only after having it on their site for a week. I guess now they listed it back up again. The MSDS hasn’t been updated since June 2022, so I’m guessing the...

2022 Corolla Cross HPL PP 0W8 20,080 Mile OCI

Your engine didn’t blow up with 0w8? I thought anything below 0w40 would make any engine blow up.

    these glass cleaning cloths work?

Those types of window rags work great. Use one side to clean the window with window cleaner, and the dry side to give it a final wipe down. Or for the final wipe down, using a regular microfiber towel (the short fiber side) works great too.

We Are Obsessed But Does It Really Matter

I never said what you highlighted on what I said was true, I was just saying most threads are like that. What I meant was people don’t know what they are talking about. So what do you think is the solution?

Ford F-150 Lightning named MotorTrend Truck of the Year

I work at a huge Ford Dealership that mainly sells F150’s and the Superdutys. We’ve only had two Ford lightnings get sold this whole year (2022). That’s really really bad. We stopped putting in allocations for lightnings a while ago. We have 5 lightnings that has been sitting on the lot for...

2015 Kia Sedona Oil Level on Dipstick

Shut the engine off and let the car sit for at least 15 minutes before you check the oil. On some engines, it takes a long time for most of the oil to drain back down to the sump. Best thing to do is let the engine rest for as long as possible (15-30 minutes), then you’ll get the most accurate...
