Lucky me... GM Opti-spark repair on a C4

Sounds like an idea that seemed great on the drawing board, but not so great out in the world

Lucky me... GM Opti-spark repair on a C4

Polo Green is IMHO, the best color on a C4. Too bad it’s not a manual. They are under appreciated cars for sure. Buddy at work did the optispark on his GF Camaro. Half day job he told me. curious to see how this works out.

    Deck stain suggestions

That’s because solid deck stain is pretty much paint. Semi-trans can’t lift or peel since it soaks into the wood. Solid stain stays on top of the wood. Solid stain will give a nice rich finish, as long as you are very thorough with the prep work. I prefer semi so I still see the grain of the...

    Deck stain suggestions

I used to work in the paint industry. always thought Superdeck was the best. That is what I use on my deck, semi-transparent. Sherwin-Williams now own the Superdeck brand. Hopefully the formula is not changed.

    Hiflofiltro hf 132

I have not had any problems with HiFlo. Any issues that anyone knows about? I picked up 6 from Dennis Kirk when they were on sale. So I’ve got 6 years worth.

    The new Jurassic Park movie

The first one was novel for the effects and being the first time the book was made into a movie. All the rest of the “sequels” are the same story tweaked a bit. They will suck every last penny out of the concept even while making worse and worse movies. The public goes to see the movies, so...

    Kia 600k

Wow, I can’t believe that all these Hyundai and Kia engines are blowing up and this is the first I’ve heard of it. my neighbor has had nothing but good luck in the last 10 years. Elantra, Sonata , and now a genesis. He handed his cars down to his sone and his wife has a Kia crossover. I would...

Car and Driver: Hyundai Sonata Mid-Size Sedan Reportedly on the Chopping Block.

I don’t see any of my vehicles as appliances. I know what you are saying and you are right, but I have an emotional connection to my cars and motorcycles that I do not have with my refrigerator. example- I respect that my washing machine has been reliable, and I like that I have been able to...

Car and Driver: Hyundai Sonata Mid-Size Sedan Reportedly on the Chopping Block.

I actually put 289,000 miles on a manual trans Dodge Stratus coupe. Mitsubishi engine, 3.0 V6. Sales job 40K a year. You get used to it, even in Boston traffic jams. I just like driving a manual. Most on BITOG are probably more in tune with their vehicles than the general public, I would think.

Car and Driver: Hyundai Sonata Mid-Size Sedan Reportedly on the Chopping Block.

Most people are non-drivers, so this makes sense. They don’t know or care which wheels drive the car, or what “body roll” is. They don’t know how to calculate gas mileage without a trip computer to tell them. They can’t drive a manual transmission. They don’t know where the oil goes. Auto...

Car and Driver: Hyundai Sonata Mid-Size Sedan Reportedly on the Chopping Block.

Crossovers and SUVs have taken over because most drivers view a car as either a status symbol or an appliance. either way, they are going to get what is popular, and sight lines are more important than handling. Crossovers give the “commanding “ seating position with better gas mileage. I...

    And... Let The Fun Begin

In the Northeast we have shut down a power plant in Providence RI and Somerset MaSS in the last 10 years. Nothing adding power to the grid has gone up except a very few windmills and some solar farms. I don’t have the exact figures, but a large net loss of kilowatts.

    And... Let The Fun Begin

I agree with your premise. Shouldn’t we push to ramp up the development of the technology and test it before we shut down the current sources of electrical power? otherwise we are caught without the power we need to live in the 2020’s. Yes creating a crisis might move the development faster...

    And... Let The Fun Begin

Here in RI we have “solar farms” where acres and acres of trees have been cut down and replaced with solar panels. These “solar farms“ output a small fraction of the energy that a similar sized natural gas power plant would provide. But no one will allow a new power plant to be built anywhere...

    And... Let The Fun Begin

When we speak about the “grid” aren’t we talking about the system? Up here in the Northeast, most of the electrical wires are on poles and run under trees. So when we get wet heavy snow or ice, or heavy winds, trees go down and take the wires with them. the other part is the capacity, which many...

    Suspension question and replacement brands

+1 on the Bilstein B6 I did the Bilstein B6 and Eibach sway bars on my Dodge Magnum. Kept the stock springs. I hate the tire to fender gap, but the ride is firm but comfortable, and the car handles well for a big vehicle. You also don’t have to worry about driveways and such with the stock ride...

    Bathroom ceiling paint.

I used to be in the paint business, the Zinsser bathroom paint is very resistant to mold- good stuff. Ben Moore Aura bath and spa is also very good. Worth the extra moneyto get paint specifically rated for bathroom use.

    Cost for full brake job?

It would be the same with a restaurant or bakery. Have to buy the ovens, fixtures, and hire employees , plus supplies before you get your first customer. Small business is not easy. I was happy to pay the $300 for rotors and pads, as AAP wanted $90 per rotor and $80 for pads.
