15w-40 is good to down to 10F. No where in California will it be 10 during the summer. I doubt any where in the northern hemisphere will get that cold.

Yep the vanes were on the bottom. I only took the cover off since it was crooked after "referb". Seems I am at least the third hack to have their hands in here.

Thank you for the response. I am not sure I understand 90 degrees. I need about 1/8" for the cover to seat. The vanes are not square. If I rotate them the longer side will be vertical and stick up farther. Can you explain it differently?

2004 Taurus 3.0 vulcan. Can any one tell me if the pump is supposed to have a vane retaining ring on the top and bottom? The old one grenaded but I dont see any pieces of a bottom one. The vanes are all shiny on one side like they were riding on the valve body and have witness marks on the top...

That spout is inside the box during shipping. You have to open a little flap on the box and pull it out. I agree though that he should not do it.

I have ordered 2 of those boxes of ATF. They shipped as pictured without an additional box but with plastic bands around them. The boxes arrived in terrible shape but not leaking.

Guidelines for storage or using jet fuel in diesel equipment? No clue what those army boys do/did. Every diesel engine we(AF) used in Iraq ran on JP8 without any additives. OP-I dont know when modern diesel started. The 2014 diesel in my truck worked just fine when I fired it up in 2019.

25w-40 is for boats mainly. Still on the shelf around here. Never seen a Rotella version though.

It is summer so the oldest 15w-40. Save those watery oils for winter.
