More exciting news about filters at Walmart. No, not Fram!

They now sell factory oil filters for Subaru, Nissan and Honda in addition to the other makes. Not great prices, though. I get my Honda filters from the dealer for $15, for example.

Fram Endurance - synthetic and wire backed

I'm thinking this is a Titanium, rebadged. I asked the girl who was stocking the items if the Ultras are going on clearance and she said no.

    Hijacked

They are a site sponsor though so calling it a hijacking isn't accurate. However, the BITOG influencers here do heavily promoting HPL, which seems to be "by design."

    Oh oh, more Ultra drama

Pic of box and date code . Also, I took a cursory look and saw no others like.

    Oh oh, more Ultra drama

Walmart. No, I sure as "heck" am not going to contact them. It's a cost-cutting move, and a smart one (shrinkflation) because it doesn't affect its functionality. It looks similar to bedliner material and that stuff is expensive at the consumer level. I liked the material; oddly no one here...

What's the world coming to? Ultras now come without the grippy material. Time to boycott everything Fram! J/K

    dual valve stem rims

Well, this a first to me and my co-worker: A valve stem both on the inner and outer parts of the rim. google sez it's to purge out the air when filling with nitrogen. Huh, learn something everyday. Was on a Mercedes GLK 350. Aftermarket.

Next New Oil You Will Try ?

M1 ESP 5W-30 in a Honda to deal with 2 engine characteristics: Fuel dilution and occasional VTC rattle (at start-up). Using M1 ESP OW-30 now, but I want to thicken things up a bit when it's cold to help with the rattle and no, a 0W- is not warranted for my climate. Will my choice make any...

    1985 MB 190D 2.2

Road salt. Unless this is his new winter beater, or a flip job, he'd be foolish to drive it under winter conditions. Plus, what's he going to do if it breaks down and he needs an unobtainium part to get going?

Valvoline MaxLife ATF now includes CVT applications (as of 2021, May), Date Codes

They've been out of this for a few weeks at my local WM. Back when this thread was started I scoured Walmarts and bought 11 jugs (all I could find). Now, my local Walmart has restocked, but it's still the OG variant and hopefully will stay that way. I use it in everything, over many years, with...

Looking for a high Noack oil, if this makes any sense here.

I have no way to quantify it, such as via UOA, so no facts here, but there does not seem to be a unusually high level of stench of gas in the oil and the level I may have sloppily overfilled when I hurriedly did the oc about 1500 miles ago, so I bungled that part. I'm sure there is some dilution...

Looking for a high Noack oil, if this makes any sense here.

    I did, M1 ESP 0W-30 so I suppose a 0W-40 is next.

Looking for a high Noack oil, if this makes any sense here.

Would it help to use the highest, as in the worse, test result Noack oil to mitigated oil dilution in a DI engine? What I'm thinking is that it will tend to thicken up. In this example, a Honda 1.5L DI (not turbo). The recommendation of course is 0W-20. I am using M1 ESP 0W-30 now. A little...

    darn honda rev hang

I forgot to add that if I slam-shift it into 2nd it won't grind most times and it is relatively smooth. :sneaky: I discovered this by accident when I had to merge into a line of traffic with no choice but to move quickly. I don't know if cramming it into gear that way is perhaps causing more...

    darn honda rev hang

I haven't owned a manual trans car since the 80s, and though I was aware of rev hang, it's really bad (2015 Fit). Shifting 1-2 is clumsy affair and as an added bonus, it grinds a bit going into second, so I either double-clutch it (sometimes) or time it so as the revs decrease, it goes into...
