Which oil do your fleet vehicles use?

Micro-fleet here, just 3 trucks now. Two GM 3500 vans and my RAM. All get whatever synthetic is on sale at WM.

    2015 Chevy Trans

The temps are fine. Most late model GM vans run the trans fluid through a radiator type cooler which means the fluid temp is at least close to radiator temp. You want that fluid hot, 200 is actually textbook...

    Real Estate Market

Interesting times. Home prices here in the Tampa bay area are going nuts, extremely high prices driven by the flight from the big cities. Our biz is set for a record December, can't really understand it but we like it!!!

    used vehicle for daughter

I strongly recommend you consider a Buick! Find an old Regal or Century with the 3800 big V6. I bought one a little over a year ago for 1000.00 and sold it 3 months later for triple that. We have run them to ridiculous high mileage. Great for a younger driver and safe, too.

Can a magnet lower particle counts?

I have said for ages that magnets have some obvious shortcomings when it comes to auto engines. High temps cause them to lose their attraction for ferrous debris, and many of the particles are NOT iron. I have always worried if you have a magnet with a chunk of particles attached and you run...

    Water Filtration for Well

Note that many modern water softeners only regen in exactly the same manner as a Kinetico model does. Ours has been extremely reliable and effective on a fairly high level of iron in our water. There are specific types of salt for these issues, too. If your water is at manageable levels a WS is...

Shop trash can...what do you use?

I use a 20 gallon plastic pail with a regular liner. No rotors obviously but good for most other junk. Rotors and heavy metal stuff go to the local scrap yard once a year or so. We run a small fleet here so our trash output is rather high...

    Ram 1500 Classic tire choice

We have great opinions of many tires but the Michelin defender series completely transformed our RAM compared to the lousy LRR Goodyears that came on it. Wet traction and ride quality were the biggest changes! Then factor in how long they last (60k miles now and still in great shape) and they...

    BMW X3 M40i

With all the wicked oil destroying tech in that engine I cannot imagine going 10k miles per OCI. It would take a few oil analysis to make me comfortable...

The furthest you’ve driven, straight on through

Last year I picked up a new fleet van at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut and drove back to Florida. I truly intended to sleep in a rest area in NC but was so excited I could not. So I hiked a couple of laps around the facilities and then drove the rest of the way in. Takes a...

    Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4

Having had a set of 4 Pilot Sport 4S summers on my car now for well over a year I can say they are amazing in Florida. Driving in the rain is a real pleasure now and dry roads are AWESOME. And they're supposed to wear well! I would expect nothing less of their all season version.

    Ram Truck Speaker Upgrade Questions

Ed I just upgraded my Wife's 14 Ram to some awesome Alpine 6 X 9's, it was super easy, the fit is perfect (they came with the right spacers), and they are amazingly strong performers, too! 39 bucks a pair on Ebay, a really ridiculous deal. Since my wonderful son handled the install I didn't do...

    Remembering the Porsche 956/962

Totally agree with the comments about Sir Jackie. Amazing talent! And I too loved the IMSA series because of the amazing mechanical diversity of the engineering across manufacturers. Some very cool designs. Kudos to those Hendricks Teams for amazing achievements in much simpler platforms.

    Gas Prices Are Going Up

Gas here is still very cheap, usually 1.6x per gallon or so. Does vary wildly by location as we saw 1.59 last week. But, as stated above, it has to go up sooner or later...
