What do you do with your old oil?

Yeah, I'm glad people are recycling. I'm a little suprised at all the burning, though. Someone who knows anything about motor oil knows the compounds and heavy metals that are suspended in used oil. Without processing the used oil, those things are going to be released into the air... this will...

What do you do with your old oil?

Maybe my mpg was from the engine loosening up... but 28.3mpg is pretty **** good for a car the EPA says is supposed to get 27mpg highway

Democrats working with Al Quaida for Oct. Surprise

Wow... the stupid garbage some people will convince themselves us (or allow themselves to be convinced by others) in order to support their political agendas.

Went to 10W-30... then the temps dropped... OH NO!

Oh, and I have noticed what I would gues is about a 4-5% increase in milage, but the butt dyno has nothing for me... in fact, I get low-rpm (1500-3000) hesitation at heavy throttle.

Glad there are no back-yard dumpers here You pay $0.50/used filter, or get that back?

What do you do with your old oil?

Just taking a poll here. Be as specific as you like. After my first at-home oil change, I took it to a gas station for recycling... the 1/2 quart that wasn't spilled on the driveway of course.

Went to 10W-30... then the temps dropped... OH NO!

After much input from the oil gurus here, I drained the factory 5W-30 out of my '04 WRX and moved to 10W-30 Mobile 1. Then temps dropped to the 20s... even after I moved down to DC from PA. Am I causing any extra distress to my engine due to temps that dip into the 20s at night?

    first oil change,synth ok?

that is exactly what I've been asking about all over the place... the concensus is that there is no concensus. after all my research, however, I plan to give my new '04 WRX synthetic on the first change at around 1600 miles. some would disagree with me, but a lot of 'ru owners have come out...

Finally found Royal Purple, now... to switch or not to switch?

1500 miles on my '04 WRX. I've heard that 'rus need a slightly longer "break-in" period. I've heard that 1000 miles is plenty. I've heard don't go to synthetic until 10k. I've also heard 5k and I've heard right away. I'm leaning toward going with a premium dino for a short change now, and then...

Is it bad to mix new oil with old oil?

I don't know jack about oil, but it might be good to know what "pretty low" is. Are you 1/2 quart low? 2 quarts low? 4 quarts low?

newbie question about synthetics and regular oil

One problem I could foresee with that, is if you get confused with all of the switching, and accidentally put extra virgin olive oil in there.

Accidentally put this is wrong forum before: where to buy premium oil in centralPA?

I'm really not interested in paying a bunch for slow shipping on a case of oil. Yet I can't find anywhere around here (Harrisburg, PA) that sells premium oil (and filters). Any suggestions? Thanks!

Oils (duh) for my new '04 WRX.

Funny you should say that, because I'm actually IN Harrisburg, PA... at least for the next two weeks until I move to D.C. Ok, so Mobile 1 in the engine, but NOT in the gear box... fair enough. But my manual specifically says 5W-30. I understand that turbos put more "sheering force" on oil, and...

Hi, long time reader, first time poster here! I'm an automotive noob, but I'm a pretty handy guy, and I want to personally care for my new baby: a 2004 WRX. So I want some lube advice if you guys would be so kind! Engine: I plan on going to Mobile 1 5w-30 within a couple hundred miles. It's...
