Complete new A/C system problem? Help!!

Fairly easy mistake to make since they used the same size connectors on these for whatever reason and they are right next to each other. I've rebuilt a few of these AC systems over the years and all it takes is one little mistake like this to cause a huge issue. And yes, the fact that almost...

27 year old GMC Sierra 93,000 miles. Should I switch to full synthetic(Mobil 1)?

My brother has a 97 K1500 with the 350 Vortec, has over 250K on it and still runs great. Actually have to do the front brakes on it again this weekend and fix a couple of other minor issues. His is no where near as nice looking as yours is, his has been used an abused with lots of rust on the...

    350 TBI Oil Recommendations?

Typically did around 3-5K oil changes on mine when I still had it, I generally just used whatever cheap oil I could get on sale. Semi syn and synthetic were both used and I never had any oil issues. I generally changed the oil every year regardless of mileage, but since I have 2 other vehicles...

    350 TBI Oil Recommendations?

TPI motors used the roller cams after 86. TBI continued with the flat tappets as they are not high output engines. Just about any x-30, 40, or even 50 oil will run just fine in a 350 TBI. They are not picky on oil and don't get good gas mileage anyway so the oil really isn't going to have any...

    GM 8 Speed Automatic-Lawsuit

I have the 8 speed in my 2018 GMC Sierra, only option with the 6.2L. I got it with about 32K miles, after a few months of driving I noticed when cold it would do the hard 1-2 shift. Never had the rumble strip feeling, saw the TSB for the fluid exchange, and had my local dealer do it. I'm at 50K...

    Any Air Conditioning Experts

You almost certainly have a leak. Get some R134a with the uv dye in it and find the leak. Then fix the leak, vacuum the system down to verify no leaks, and refill with R134a. I would also replace the accumulator/drier and the expansion valve/orifice tube while you have the system apart, that...

    Dehumidifier Isn't Removing Moisture

Agree with the new ones are junk and low on refrigerant. They make them as cheap as possible and not serviceable anymore, so if it develops a leak its pretty much time to buy a new one.. It probably doesn't even have any valves to check the pressure on the refrigerant.

    2024 Silverado EV - Revealed

I agree that the proportions look off to say the least. I don't think its as bad as the joke that is the Cybertruck but no way do I think this looks very good either. I get that they were going for a better aero to improve mileage but it looks like a weird Avalanche. If they do actually get a...

    Dropped harddrive

This. I would never trust a dropped HDD, its may work for a little bit but if the head or platter was damaged you have no idea when it will stop working.

Comcast internet data usage report seems way too low

Well whatever you do don't bring it up with Comcast. When I had them they were always higher than the logging info on my router, usually by at least 100-300GB. I was always close to the stupid 1.2TB cap and sometimes I would limit uploads the last week of my billing cycle to keep under the cap...

1990 Chevy K1500 with NV3500 5-speed. Latest and greatest syncromesh transmission fluid?

Last time I did anything with a vehicle requiring sychromesh was a 95 K3500 with an NV4500 and I just used the regular Pennzoil syncrhomesh fluid. Worked without any issues. According to Autozone's website its part #3501. I either got it there or at my local Advance.

Toyota will still have the manual in the new Tacoma

Interesting that they will keep it. Last truck I had with a manual was a stripper 08 Colorado and that was hard to find. While I like manuals they seem almost impossible to find on the lots anymore. I believe there is currently 1 Camaro 2SS with a manual in my entire area sitting on a lot last...

Texas bill that introduces $200 fee on EVs to fund roads just passed

Weird, never heard of that in this area. Surprised we don't have it though, they keep raising the property taxes every year and the money still goes to nothing useful. Anything they can do to steal from the taxpayers.

Texas bill that introduces $200 fee on EVs to fund roads just passed

Where I live, no. I believe that is a Chicago thing for inspections. We don't have inspections in Central IL. Unless you are running a commercial vehicle that needs the 6 months inspection sticker.

Texas bill that introduces $200 fee on EVs to fund roads just passed

Illinois charges an extra $100 per year for plate stickers for EVs currently. Expect that to go up as Illinois has never met a tax it didn't like. Of course what will be even worse for EV owners here will be when Ameren and IL State roll out the extra charging fees for EVs. Last I've seen the...

E85 Occasional use in FlexFuel Vehicle?

18 would have the ethanol content sensor. They are standard on all the 14+ trucks that were flex fuel. It takes only around a minute to get to the new ethanol concentration when I watch it on my truck when I get new fuel and have my data logging laptop with me. I added E85 capability to my 6.2L...

    Your city filling in potholes

Sure would be nice if they did something like that around here. I've had to fill in the pot holes in front of my house because the city refuses to fix anything outside of the main roads. Should have sent them a bill for time and materials. Then again, I already pay far too much in both...

    2000 camaro ss oil recommendation

GM LS engines are not picky on oil. Any Xw30 or Xw40 will work just fine in them.

An emerging discount wave on new vehicles ?

Yep, makes me glad I pay off any debt I have early rather than waiting. If you own it you have less to worry about when bad stuff happens with the economy. I'd hate to have to go try to buy a new truck like my current one, it would be $70-80K and even with my great credit it would still be...

70,000 miles on a oil filter

Unfortunately a lot of people are like this. Friend of mine's wife drove her minivan about 15K over the oil change recommendation, ended up wiping out a cam. She was driving, it just died and wouldn't start. He asked me to look at it since I like to work on cars and had it towed to my house. I...
