My son totaled his 2007 Buick Lucern. He needs cheap basic transportation until he finds a full time job. Looking at a 1996 Chevrolet Celebrity with 109k for $1500. Owner says it has a CEL on that pertains to the catalytic converter. 3100 V6 engine. Is this a good model year and a good engine ?

My guess was that the Fuel Pressure Regulator has a bad check valve. Had a vehicle on the lot of the dealership where I worked that did that. Don’t know that for sure. Can’t remember why I replaced the fuel pump. Seems like it was acting up. Tank had to be dropped to replace a rear leaf spring...

New spark plugs, new fuel pump, fairly new battery.

According to Google there is a fuel pressure regulator on the driver’s side under the engine cover.

I have a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado LS with 5.3 engine. I just changed oil and getting to the filter was a pain. I used a Fram XG3506 which is a very short filter. Does anyone make a really long filter that would fit this engine? I heard that some of the longer Ford filters would work. Please advise.

I have a 2000 Silverado Oil Life Month. It went off with 2500 miles on the odometer. I’m not sure if the OLM was reset when the oil was changed in March (Mobile Full Synthetic High Mileage). Does the OLM count miles or is it an intelligent OLM?
