Is is true that 5w-20 synthoil has no viscoity modifiers in it? Perhaps that explains why Amsoil's Signature 5W-20 is cheaper than 0W-20? Fewer additives?

I read this. I am confused. I see now why EV drivers say their cars are so, so much simpler to understand and maintain. (Well except for the battery which has a chemistry as complicated as oil chemistry.)
