    Major service for 2005 Camry

Seriously, changing the plugs in your motor can be done in 5 minutes... Of course, for us DIY'ers, we like to stop and look at every possible detail; so it would probably take you more like 10 minutes. And motor with only 30,000 miles on it should not need a fuel system "flush" (what is that...

I just picked up 12qts at $1.50 (after MIR). It will be going in tonight. Hopefully my truck will "like" it.

    Brake Pads

The Bendix website has a good video which discusses the pros & cons of the various friction materials. http://bendixbrakes.com/techCorner/ Select video 2.

What do you use to wipe your dipstick?

I fold it into perfect squares, and then give it a nice little scrunch right before the wipe. Helps get into the nooks & crannies.

    Maxlife 5w20 is In

Where the heck did you find ML 5w20??? I've been looking everywhere for it: Autozone, Kragen, Pep Boys, Napa, Carquest... Nobody stocks that stuff. They just have the 5w30 and 10w30.

That was Merkava that said that.

    Penz Plat 5w30, 3000 miles, 2005 F150 5.4

No I didn't see a difference... But fuel economy for me has been skewed. My a/c compressor has been making a whining noise for the past 6000 miles. At first, the dealer would replace it, they said it was "normal". It finally got so loud and anyoying that I recently took it in again. This time...

What does that mean, and what causes it to be low?

    Penz Plat 5w30, 3000 miles, 2005 F150 5.4

According to Blackstone's comments, everything looks fine with my engine. I had a UOA done, not to see how my oil is holding up (as in wanting to do extended OCI's), but rather to see if there are any problems with my motor. BTW, I'm now back to using Motorcraft 5w20 semi-syn. Any comments...

What makes the Ford, Honda and Chrysler 5-20 spec.

Just a thought, but maybe back in 1997 the engineers that design engines didn't have enough long-term evidence that Xw20 oils perform just as well as a Xw30 oil. What does Nissan now recommend for the Maxima?

go down the oil isle every time to the store?

It's nice to see that we have a support group for our disorder... Hi, my name is Brad, and I'm an oil addict. I too have a weakness for browsing the shelves of motor oils. I swear the employees of Walmart and AutoZone must think I'm some kind of nut. I'll go into the store, spend 20 minutes...

Heaviest oil for Ford 5.4 modular motor?

I too thought that it may have been the filter. So before I even tried changing oils, I tried several different filters, including Amsoil, Wix, M1, K&N, PureOne, and Motorcraft fl820s (which is what I always used anyway)... None of them made a hint of difference. So I'm now back to using the ol'...

Heaviest oil for Ford 5.4 modular motor?

I actually have PP 5w30 in my sump as we speak. Remember, my primary purpose in experimenting with different oils is to minimize (or better yet, eliminate) my cold start-up noise. The noise is worst with MC 5w20. The PP 5w30 made it a little better. I just stocked up on 2 gallons of Rotella...

Heaviest oil for Ford 5.4 modular motor?

What is a good 15w40 to use?? I don't think I've seen that weight.

    Pennzoil products

It would also be interesting to know how much of a MPG hit they take, using significantly heavier oils... IF UOA's show that, say, a 20w50 and a 5w20 provide the same protection, but the 5w20 gets 10% better fuel economy, then that may make a big difference in one's deciding what oil to go with.

    Pennzoil products

Ok, so are the engines actually different from country to country? For example, my 2005 Ford 5.4 motor...is it the exact same motor that's used in Australia?? And if so, why is a 20w50 recommended over there?? Some say it's because other countries don't have CAFE to deal with, while others will...

Funny how Australia's favorite grade of oil seems to be 20w50... Similiar climate to that of many parts of the USA... ?????
