So it seems that 0-10 micron particles cause the most wear. Most filters aren't catching that anyway right? Looks like synthetic media can catch some of that, but not paper, which supertechs are. Another reason to stick with Fram ultras.

So the oil leaves those <30 micron particles suspended in the oil and they likely cause no harm. It's probably what slowly turns the oil black, I suppose.

I agree. I change my oil at 5k so I dont see the need for the MPs. silicone ADBV is overrated IMO too. If the filter installs from the bottom, gravity will keep the oil in the can when you turn off the car anyway, right? And do rubber Adbvs often fail?

Yeah in reading the descriptions of both the ST and MP filters, they have the same efficiency I believe.

Yeah it seems for this application, the only change is the silicone ADBV. If the change to white filters means a change to Purolator, that indeed is different. Someone said these new white ST filters have metal cores. I think I like that better than the e-cores. I don't see how flimsy ecores...

This is old, but just in case anyone else ever finds this via search and wants to know, the answer is yes AFAIK. You can actually use zerex Asian blue or red if one isn't available, as valvoline has confirmed that they are identical minus the dye.

Did you ever try Auto-RX, and is BG EPR better? I think I am going to grab some. Seems like none of the local sellers have EPR and only have MOA so I would have to get it shipped in.
