Last Coal Plant in UK to shut down at end of Sept. 2024

Here is a update on the Hinkley C Nuclear Reactor that is under construction in Britain. The data is actually over a year old so the final cost might even be more. At 1.35 US dollars to the British Pound the final cost is expected to be over $60 B US dollars. Don't shoot the messenger. ;)...

Walmart removing self checkouts, reported results include significant reduction in theft

Yes, the cross border shoppers like the place. The ladies pronounce it as Tarzchay. Unfortunately, Target made an attempt to come into Canada but the commitment to stock the shelves was not the same as the US and eventually they pulled out. I have a brass plated firewood holder from Target which...

Walmart removing self checkouts, reported results include significant reduction in theft

The owner of my local gas station / convenience store made a giant ice box from Styrofoam and plywood in the back of a minivan. I’ve spoken with him a couple of times when he fills a cart with cold items. He then loads it all in his ice box and takes it to his store. In Texas, this is called an...

Solar finance company files for bankruptcy

I think I know what’s in the Maintenance fee. I have a copy of a sample bill from 2017. Back then they broke the charges down a bit more. Some is for environmental liability of the coal plants plus a charge to help pay the cost over-run on the Vogtle nuclear plant which a horribly over-budget...

Solar finance company files for bankruptcy

The Georgia Power site says the average power price is 14.7 cents per kwhr. How is it your price is 7.5 cents? Are there some riders etc attached to your bill you aren’t including?

Sunset and putting solar to bed

Look at my original posting. It’s just some observations on night fall and the closing down of solar for the evening plus a comment on an installation hitting nameplate and a comment on a great windy day. Then once again your input puts it all down. What’s with you? New solar and wind...

Sunset and putting solar to bed

Yes, I offered a single data point. I was having a relaxing moment on my deck and I pointed out it was close to the summer solstice. I thought I would share the moment with my fellow Bitoggers. I was not trying to make a comprehensive report about Solar Energy in Alberta. I did include some data...

Sunset and putting solar to bed

I’d rather you just stick to your nuclear cheer leading. There’s a historical rain storm approaching Alberta right now. Heavy clouds are blanking the skies. Yes, wind is variable and nuclear can be a disaster in short order. Enough.

World Wide Peak of ICE vehicles

Actually, all it says is that sales of gasoline and diesel powered vehicles, you know, the ones that don’t have a hybrid component, and don’t have a PHEV component, have stopped growing ( when looking at the entire world data). I’ll challenge someone else to bring out the USA data, and see...

World Wide Peak of ICE vehicles

We’re talking about the world. If you have a problem with that, do your own post about something. Why not present something about the USA?

Hold on. China’s data in included in the World Wide data. If you like, post some world data.

The original post is based on world wide data. You’re drifting to USA data.

World Wide Peak of ICE vehicles

Folks are drifting from the intent. ICE vehicles not assisted by electrical motors, have reached a peak in sales in 2016. That way we can set the “definitions” aside and realize the direction auto sales are headed in. ;)

World Wide Peak of ICE vehicles

Sorry. They have been accepted as electric. Don’t be a grandpa. :D But for grandpas, pure internal combustion vehicles with no electric assist, have reached their peak in 2016. How’s that? ;)

Sunset and putting solar to bed

Wind is really kicking it tonight. Fully 1/3 of Alberta’s power requirements are being fulfilled by windmills. The simple cycle plants are idling.

World Wide Peak of ICE vehicles

When you include hybrids and PHEV vehicles as electrics, the Peak number of Internal Combustion Only vehicles was reached in 2016 with sales of 80 million Worldwide. Now worldwide automotive sales are back at around 80 million, but 60 million were “ICE” and 20 million were “electric”...
