Fram Endurance FE4967 and HPL Premium Plus 0w-16

It is supposed to be flush or a little recessed is better, but always isn’t on some recent examples I have cut. Just a little bit too long. If it is flush, no compression against the resin either. The resin can be rough too, I have seen it, which gives a light leak. The resin is hard, not very...

napa filter was the wrong one,

A Wix has the same design as a Fram? I may be forgetting something. I am pretty sure I hear people complaining Wix is made by Purolator. Fram now has Champ. The Napa went to China or something, silicone base gasket. Is the bypass valve deleted in the block?

Two brand new Fram Endurance FE3600 filters - failed quality control

Though there is a problem getting the synthetic media. It seems a blend has been widely adopted. Well done metal bypass valves can seal fine for the purpose. I don’t like seeing glue on holes or louvers at the tube ends. It could be done better but I guess costs more to leave a flat area...

Fram Endurance every other OCI vs Microgard Select every OCI on Hondas?

I know only elements are bubble point tested and efficiency is the whole assembled filter tested. No one apparently is finding lower efficiency numbers at Fram due to the bypass seal. They say the same 99% @ 20 micron numbers for all the filters under discussion.

Fram Endurance every other OCI vs Microgard Select every OCI on Hondas?

Ascent put corks in removable bypass valve filters to pass the bubble point. Leaky bypass valves don’t pass. First time I heard of filters being put back together and tested. It seems Fram isn’t finding any correlations with bypass leaks as the average number remains at 20. It all gets more...

Fram PH/TG/XG 7317 All Getting Champion Labs Treatment

Nylon cage March 2025 date. Also poorly centered end caps, adbv pushed over and the base holes were open on one side. Plus that black on the adbv is dirt with visible metal flecks. Base plate not cleaned well. PH3614

Fram Endurance every other OCI vs Microgard Select every OCI on Hondas?

Purolator looks great doesn’t it. I cut my Pentius PLXL open this morning. Never going to get around to using it. Most perfect media spacing and cleanliness I’ve ever seen. Can is super strong and thick. Adbv beautiful. All fit and finish remarkably good, except the center holes punching a...

Fram Endurance FE4967 and HPL Premium Plus 0w-16

That was an interesting one because it has the mesh, it is not magnetic( wasn’t magnetic before, was stainless) and the media was sort of loosely bonded. The close up of the media shows mostly free fiber strands, much more open than usually seen. I notice that when the media is packed with...

Two brand new Fram Endurance FE3600 filters - failed quality control

Need to check if adbv shifted over and there is a gap also. I bought 2025 New Fram product and the adbv wasn’t sealing the base holes. The QC inside was a mess too. Otherwise they have pretty good media but are starting to skimp on it even more than they used too.

Fram Endurance / Walmart End of Life ?

All that at 12:33AM? I’m not reading all of it but if you think oil is not spread out going through a slot just keep on thinking it. Makes the adbv bend more evenly too. Imagine one base hole. The media is very close, the spread oil won’t change shape much before it goes to the next pressure...

Fram Endurance / Walmart End of Life ?

I wasn’t talking about baseplate pressure changes. The oil is dispersed more evenly and directed at the pleats more square on with slots or oval holes or plenty of any shaped holes. Much better imo. There are so many fittings and pressure changes in an engine, base plate change in pressure isn’t...

Fram Endurance / Walmart End of Life ?

The oil is distributed more evenly with the slots. Less oil turning and hitting the sides of pleats rather than straight on. The oil streams are wider. I don’t think Denso was thinking about DP at all. Fram seems to be trying the same thing with an abundance of holes on some filter bases.

Fram Endurance / Walmart End of Life ?

Not flow volume but flow dispersal, like the Toyota N1 base went to long oval shaped holes from round holes. In practice it seems to make no difference, but clearly there is a difference or Toyota, Denso really, wouldn’t bother with the change.

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

I haven’t read all the latest repies, but Chevy Bolt would be a good choice. There are used ones with new GM batteries in them. Depending on all the city, county, state, and federal rebates you qualify for, it could bring the cost down. Say the Bolt is 12000, don’t need to get the newest and...

Is this filter longer version of the YZZD1?

197 pages of equipment that uses a 3/4-16 thread. Will find VW and others. So many in just this one size filter. https://www.fram.com/fram-extra-guard-oil-filter-spin-on-ph3614

Is this filter longer version of the YZZD1?

That’s what I think too, some being saw 16 stamped on the base and what the heck 3/4 means they don’t know.

An electric vehicle with good range still, but priced to sell. No more oil Bob, no more tinkering. It should take awhile to have no range.

One 18x1.5mm oil filter to rule them all (efficiency)

There probably is no magic numbers full flow oil filter. I never bought a Trasko for my truck because they say the thick paper roll is the full flow part and the bypass has a 8-10 micron screen. They may work though, but common sense makes it questionable. Apparently Subaru was part of the...
