2013 Sienna 2GR-FE: int. codes for ECU, now cyl 6 codes and rough

It was running yesterday and today sometimes fine and CEL-free, sometimes with CEL but running fine, sometimes on 5 cylinders. Got my hands on it briefly this evening. Manipulating the connector on coil F while the engine was running and under load (used reverse with parking and regular brakes...

Bought a Sludge lemon. Is it fixable? BG flush?

IMO you should also check/replace the oil squirter for the valvetronic gear and actuator area (top end). If flow was impeded here, the gearing on the actuator or the eccentric shaft may already be toast.

2013 Sienna 2GR-FE: int. codes for ECU, now cyl 6 codes and rough

Thanks for the confirmation. So that "probably" means that I can trust the coil location that is indicated by the code as the place to focus on the harness....right? When you mentioned that it was daisy-chained that got me concerned that certain types of faults might always be reported as one...

2013 Sienna 2GR-FE: int. codes for ECU, now cyl 6 codes and rough

I have always felt it interesting that the cyl F codes started as soon as I performed the "test" disassembly of those parts, but afterwards moved the coils, replaced the plugs and the connector shells. Ah! THIS is the kind of vital tidbit of info I was hoping to coax out by making a post! I...

2013 Sienna 2GR-FE: int. codes for ECU, now cyl 6 codes and rough

No disagreement. If I was doing the work, I would have. That was ~5 years ago that the work was done. No codes except ECM performance and startability (despite no change in operation) since then until all this cyl F stuff the last few months. The catch with me is whether the O2 code is cause...

2013 Sienna 2GR-FE: int. codes for ECU, now cyl 6 codes and rough

Hi all. Thank you. Responses below. Before the car was purchased from the seller (~5 years ago) it threw a CEL for an O2 error and at least that one sensor was replaced before purchase. I don't think I saved the screenshot from my scanner to know which one (I scanned every vehicle we looked...

2013 Sienna 2GR-FE: int. codes for ECU, now cyl 6 codes and rough

Hi all - just throwing this out there for folks with more Toyota experience than I have. This isn't my personal vehicle, but I take care of it. This is a 2013 Sienna LE FWD w/ 2GR-FE with around 240,000km on it at this time. Two years ago we got a CEL which read out as: P0607 - ECM...

Negative experience with EBC Ultimax2 Brake Pads

My bigger question is what if there are any FDLs relating to brakes to change on an F10. Generally I find that nothing is spoken of and there are zero hits on google, because there aren't options from the factory (except the high speed euro braking package, I suppose). All the action is on...

Negative experience with EBC Ultimax2 Brake Pads

What I really want to know is HOW it is detected. And is there a possibility of incorrect "detection" because it is actually inference, or calculated. The only sensors at the wheels are wheel speed sensors, which won't tell you about fade. A pressure drop in a branch detected by DSC could...

    Nickel vs Copper anti-seize

Marine-grade anti-seize changed the game for me in the Great Lakes area. In the winter environment at road-level I found that every anti-seize I had seemed to react with itself when in an aluminum alloy/iron rotor/steel hub or aluminum alloy/aluminum rotor hat/steel hub or steel wheel/iron...

Negative experience with EBC Ultimax2 Brake Pads

For the F30 there are published articles about all the different compounds, and how M Sport and M Performance compounds differ from non-sport. For the 5 series I've seen nothing but online conjecture (from myself included) and, for years at least, everyone will swear that nothing changed with...

Negative experience with EBC Ultimax2 Brake Pads

Wait. What? How have I not heard of this? I need to get schooled quick - depending on how it decides to do things, I wonder if the function could explain some of my braking dissatisfaction on my F10. While I have you, your EBC recommendation for an F10 X-Drive daily driven but sometimes like...

BME e90 manual gearbox - Maxlife OK?

I quite liked the performance of Amsoil MTF in my E-series manual gearboxes over the years....

    Coolant temp increase ?

Curious - do you have a reason to feel this is actually a problem? The real temperature of the coolant can be all over the place, and you've reported that when it's really hot out, it reads hotter. That's....expected. Unless of course you've owned the car for 10 years and the temperature has...

    Spark Plugs: NGK or Denso?

OP - just be very persnickety when torquing those down, and heed the factory-updated torque specs. These engines are seeing lots of cases of plugs backing out and trashing the threads. New spec is 20 ft-lb WITH anti-seize, which is a lot tighter than the original spec I've seen around of 13...

    Defrost Lines Diagnosis/Repair

I would expect in most designs - the "continuity" you're measuring isn't strictly through the path you want the electricity to take between the probes. It's any path between the probes. Including all of the other lines that are working. If your window is wire terminals on each side with a...

    Wheel cleaning

Personally, I've found that the best tool for the job varies based on how the wheels are styled. For wheels with large openings between spokes (e.g. any derivative of the classic 5 spoke design) I've used a sponge on a stick - an old school $1 dishwashing tool - to clean the barrels. Cheap...

    MT oil for old Audi

I know it's not the same (this is an Audi) but I used Amsoil MTF (not MTG) in my 90s BMW with great results. Also Redline MTL, Royal Purple Synchromax. I believe Amsoil MTF was my fave. OP may want to consider researching if the higher viscosity of MTG is really necessary over MTF, or just...

    Road Force Balancing - HELP

Even with road force, nothing is actually balanced. It is just good enough not to notice. Worn out ball joints and bushings in the front end will amplify the inevitable imbalance which remains. The full suspension should be inspected to confirm everything is tight. Most German sedans have a...
