Not all cartridge filters have stationary small O-ring stems.

Ok, good. I don't believe there is any functional difference if the stem rotates or not. Most of the filters for my Pentastar that I have used were the rotating sort.

Not all cartridge filters have stationary small O-ring stems.

Sparky, are you saying that the Mobil and Mopar filters do not have the stem? Or are you saying that they do have the stem, but it does not rotate? If I remember correctly, the earlier Pentastars use a filter that does not have a stem. DO NOT USE those filters on a later Pentastar. They will...

Fram Extra Guard CH10246 - FAIL!!!

No, your procedure is correct. Snap the filter in the cap and then thread the whole thing onto the housing. While I haven't change it on the same vehicle as yours, ALL the vehicles I've worked on from VW to Mercedes to Toyota has been the same.

Early Filter change in new Engine

Since we are sharing anecdotes, here is mine. My only vehicle that I bought new was a 2004 Freightliner (Mercedes) Sprinter. I did the first oil change at 10k miles, then I believe over the next few changes I increased the interval little by little with every oil change (based on oil analyses)...

Donaldson 551132 4,800 miles CUT OPEN

Rock catcher? I hope you are not serious. With 99% at 17 microns this is one of the best filters out there.

Donaldson 551132 4,800 miles CUT OPEN

Thanks Adam. The nitrile ADBV does not bother me at all. I probably will use some of these after my stash of OG Ultra 3600 runs out. I believe I have 3 left. I wish Donaldson would make a filter in the 3600 size with the same efficiency like this one (I believe 99% at 17 microns). That would...

VAFI, Premium Guard, Carquest Premium, Microgard Select, Specs

My take on it is that either the specs are listed wrong or they are not the same filters, just that they are made by the same company.

Freedom Worx ... video about pre-filling filters

Don't think it has anything to do with diesel. More likely it has something to do with Cummins.. The DD13 in my Freoghtliner truck (13 liter Detroit Diesel engine) has a huge, and I mean huge, cartridge oil filter that you can't prefill. And no problem with them whatsoever. The only warning they...

Fram 10358 XG from 2019 compared to 2024 and new? TG and EG lines made in Argentina?

All of them will work just fine. However, my pick would be Supertech ST10358. Very good construction, wire backed media, made in USA and the kicker, only $3. Stock up until it changes because I bet it won't last long.

    WCW Fleetguard and Donaldson comparison

Donaldson P551132 is a very good filter from what I can see. It is a 3614 size, 99% at 17 microns, wire backed, made in Mexico and can be bought for less then $10 some places. I'll try a couple of these when I deplete my stash of 3614 filters. Can't see really good in the video, but a potential...

Disappointing CHAMP / LUBER-FINER P1009 filters received from RockAuto

Go to Walmart and get the Supertech 11665, last time I looked they were made in the USA and they looked really good. And only like 3 bucks or so.

Fram Synthetic Endurance VS Fram Titanium

Toss a coin and find out which one to use first, then keep the other one for the next oil change.

Cartridge vs. cannister style oil filters...pros/cons?

Late to the party, but here it goes. I don't see much difference between the 2 systems, if the cartridge is designed properly. The cartridge takes the lead in cleanliness compared to a spin on. I've had German vehicles with cartridge filters for more than 1 million miles and no problem with...

Ford OEM vs. Fram Ultra Synthetic

I wouldn't knowingly instal a ripped or leaky oil filter, but if I find one after use I will not loose any sleep over it.

BF Fumoto valve and accessories sale

Yeah, great valves. I have one on every vehicle I own. The oldest one I believe is over than 15 years old and no issues whatsoever. I bought the first one to be able to do oil changes on the road without making a mess. I would put an empty jug underneath the valve, open it up, and not even a...

TFLEV leases a Fiat EV for $47/month!?

In this case they are passing it along, in many others they aren't.

TFLEV leases a Fiat EV for $47/month!?

Soooo, the little guy like me can't take a rebate on an electric car that is not built here, but the big guys can under the pretext of being 'commercial.' So fair. I hope all these gimmics will go away soon.

Took delivery of my first EV

Gary, nothing wrong with that if you can afford it. I knew someone that changed cars almost like underwear even though he couldn't afford it. He was up to his eyeballs in debt, bankruptcies, blah blah. But he always found a reason to justify it... I'm totally different. I only bought one brand...
