    Wow, really nice XJ!

Lake speed Jr inside Valvoline R&D lab to investigate their restore and protect

A couple thoughts....I would bet and believe that this is a very good oil. I have never seen anyone have an issue with Valvoline. Always seems to perform very well. I like that they tested it on a Pentastar and showed Pentastar internals. Not a DI engine, but it is my engine, as I have two...

    this filter is the best

I think he meant it does not satisfy the BITOG beauty pageant judges. I haven't seen a change in the construction of the Ultra in the Pentastar cartridge version as of yet. I hope it doesn't change. I've been running the Endurance in my Vette and mostly Ultras in my Jeeps, although I still...

Would you be caught dead on a Honda Grom?

This reminds me of the old joke about mopeds and fat........well, you know. LOL!

Finally, proof for the 5K mile oil change, or something to laugh at/BITOG fodder

It is kinda funny....It used to be that everyone thought that the oil industry and car makers colluded with the 3k OCI to make money. Now that they recommend 7k to 20k OCI's (especially the oil industry with the 20k change) everyone thinks it is a conspiracy the other way and they don't trust...

    OEM Sticker Residue

I took the "Gladiator" stickers off my Jeep Gladiator and on one side, I cannot get the residue off. Heat gun won't get it, and WD 40 won't get it. I even tried a mild rubbing compound. And it is just too tacky for a razor blade to get under it. So my question is, what about Goo Gone? If...

Maybe you missed part of what I said. You know, the part about what other people think.

If it is fun, I don't give a dog log what anyone thinks.

What is the newest oil you've purchased?

Mobil 1 Euro 0w40....3 jugs for $66 for my Vette. BUT....if this means newest formulation (marketing), Valvoline EP 0w20. I did a 5k run in my 2018 Jeep. I just swapped that out for the oldest oil in my stash...Shell RGT 0w20. I have only 2 quarts of that left, so I will probably do a mixer...

Dorman filter for 3.6l Pentastar engines cut open

Great post! Nice Pentastar, too! Makes me feel great about mine to see yours running around with almost 300k on it! I run mostly Frams, and they tend to do the twist but all UOA's have come back great, so I don't worry too much. But that filter came out nice and straight! Maybe it is...

Is the recommended 0-20 bad for engine life?

My 2018 Jeep has been run pretty hard for 93k miles on 0w20. No issues. Keep checking back and I'll let you know how she's doing. I plan to go the distance with it. My Gladiator also runs 0w20. It is a baby, in the mid 40k range now. I sold a 2008 Jeep with 193k that was mostly on 5w20...

    M1HM 0w20 now has dexos1Gen3 approval

BS. I've had GM cars all my life. I never had a bad one. Not one. Never a lemon. Never one that wore out prematurely. Never one that wasn't dependable and reliable. Here's the list: 1982 Chevy Chevette, 1983 Pontiac J2000, 1986 Pontiac Firebird, 1990 Pontiac Sunbird, 1993 Chevy Blazer...

    M1HM 0w20 now has dexos1Gen3 approval

Ok, but is there an example of Mobil 1 lying about their oil meeting a given standard? Or GM's Dexos standards somehow being bogus or their certification process being fake?

    M1HM 0w20 now has dexos1Gen3 approval

I don't see the skepticism here. That's a valid and rigorous standard. It validates the oil being of high quality.

    3,000 Mile Oil Change

Plenty of DI engines have had issues with fuel dilution of the oil. Well documented. At the end of the day, I will do with my engines what I believe will make them last. Haven´t had one fail to go the distance yet.

    3,000 Mile Oil Change

Your lack of understanding and apparent lack of experience with DI is ridiculous. Strong fuel odor in oil is NOT normal. It indicates the presence of fuel (you know...gasoline) in the oil. Having paid for one UOA with the oil in this condition, it was confirmed that fuel was present in the...

    3,000 Mile Oil Change

Yep, Fiat with the same engine, just not a Trail Hawk. They had a TSB where they updated the ECM and it cured the oil consumption issue. We have 90k on this car now and it runs great. Before the reflash, it used about the same amount of oil you described.

    3,000 Mile Oil Change

Actually, maybe, but that doesn't invalidate it. My father was a GM engineer and there was a time where this was considered by GM powertrain engineers to be a good and safe interval. I run 5k oil changes on my vehicles but sometimes go past that without worry. I've run my 2018 Jeep to close...
