    Latest Volkswagen ID.Buzz Bunwagon

My local got a total of 20 allocated. Variety of Pro S, Pro S Plus, Pro S Plus 4Motion, and a handful of First Editions. All offered at MSRP with zero markup. They still have 13 inbound and 5 on the lot, including the Pomrelo Yellow First Edition on the sales floor. Have yet to see one on the...

Datalog from my tuned VW wagon - summer blend fuel is here in the mid-Atlantic

Wastegate duty cycle tuning is critical to overall turbo speed on these things. You get a big, slow IS38 and it kinda loafs vs. the zingy IS20 though. EA888 uses a MAP sensor and not a MAF. Thats why reading can look wonky.

Using seat-belt inertia lock to stay put for performance driving....how can't this be safe?

Is the term for the stretch called "ride down"? Thats the term used by the Ford reps when they came to oversee how the Crown Vics performed at our driver training facility and mentioned it. They would also show what the webbing would look like after a collision and require replacement if we ever...

Using seat-belt inertia lock to stay put for performance driving....how can't this be safe?

If you are talking about the carbon fiber part, that is the back piece that gets strapped aronnd the torso. The tethers then attach to posts on the helmet. This keeps the (helmeted) head in relatively the same position to the body in the event of a crash instead of allowing the head to move...

Good boy. Your neck will thank you in another 20 years.

Using seat-belt inertia lock to stay put for performance driving....how can't this be safe?

This. First off, the goal of tightly strapping yourself in is the PREVENT movement. In a racing scenario this keeps you in the same position so you can control the car properly and consistently. Ever try to turn the steering wheel accurately in a high G turn while you have slid to the other...

    Mobil 1 0w-30 ESP

Didn't dig for it, but what is the virgin oxidation for the 5W-30 ESP? I do remember that the 5W has a slightly better Noack over the 0W. Maybe attributable to the increased esters. Dunno.

    Breaking in a new gun....Glock 42

Man, that brings back memories. I was actually a firearms instructor before an armorer. Was for almost all 40 of my years in service. Also, a patrol rifle and tactical (SWAT) instructor, but the most rewarding was that I was an instructor trainer. One of the things that I stressed more than...

Solvent type for refillable pressurized sprayer?

Without paying some hideous price or having to secure an EPA license, I would say the 2 I would get are high percentage IPA or Acetone.

Picked up a new to me Honda

5, kind of. HR214, 215, 216s (consumer grade) have thinner steel decks. HR214s and 215s (Masters Series) were aluminum decks. Early HRXs used Xenoy polymer decks (brittle and would crack). Newer HRXs use Nexite polymer decks (lifetime warranty). HRC 215 and 216s (Commercial Grade) use a very...

    Post your seasonal tire change!

Same as last season, and the season before that. In fact, same as all 4 of our seasons. Guess thats why they are called "all-season" 😁. Seriously, our seasons are rather mild and they perform well enough for us. Plus there are times when I got caught off guard with summer tires on and temps...

    Breaking in a new gun....Glock 42

I bought a TX22 a few years ago when Glock introduced the G44 and I wanted a .22 pistol. Compared the 2 and the Taurus ran circles around the Glock. G44 had so much trouble with the .22 cartridge for a myriad of mysterious reasons. A lot. Thats so frustrating when you are plinking away and have...

    Breaking in a new gun....Glock 42

Couple things. First, I've grown somewhat more disenchanted with Glocks as of late. I think that they've gotten so big because of their popularity that some things get rushed for production sake. I've seen some stuff on guns that would have never made QC 10 years ago. Nothing that necessarily...

Best additive to prevent fuel gumming up the carb?

I use it too for storage. For keeping systems clean I run SI-1 during the season.
