MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

Yeah it would just be nice to have more data is all. I might swing it and go for motul.

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

I asked Lexus and Toyota but they don't offer any discounts same thing with filters. Motul is pretty cheap at lordco at $48 for 4L (~$12/L), but im wondering if it's worth it cheaping out over the TGMO which has a pretty crazy additive package.

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

Unfortunately not during the warranty period, afterwards yes (I'll move to 0w16) but during no. I would take advantage of the free oil change, but unfortunately Lexus is cheap and I won't be getting any free oil changes at all. This is kind of strange because high end manufacturers tend to give...

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

The ux300h has different requirements compared to the ux250h, the owners manual changed and some parts of the power train changed too (much more powerful rear electric motor). One of those changes is a mandated 0w-8 oil weight. The surprising thing about hybrids is that the engine is off for a...

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

See above. If you don't use the correct oil grade then clearly the manufacturer has grounds to void your warranty if the engine blows up because improper lubrication was used. Especially because the owners manual explicitly states what to use, i.e. jaso glv1, and 0w-8.

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

No it wasn't an over rev, Toyota USA and Toyota Canada are managed by Toyota NA, so pretty similar uppe management.

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

Yep looks like it. I want to go motul because it's literally 1/2 price of the TGMO but I'd like a bit more data on the additive package before I hop on board. I don't have any other choice locally, because mobil1 isn't available here yet.

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

Toyota is known to void warranty for extreme use, for eg. the gr86 has cases of denied warranty when used on track. So that's probably another reason for them to void the warranty.

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

Technically true and may even be justifiable, but I live in a city with 10+ Toyota dealers really close to my registered address.

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

Yup that's the plan, I'm hoping I can switch to a 0w-20, or even 0w-16. But the next problem will be me struggling to even find and buy that oil.

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

Yeah I will, but until Toyota/lexus specifies it on my car explicitly an article on the web won't help. Also I don't even think they sell that type of oil yet, it's already insanely hard to find jaso glv1

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

Yes thags what I mean, the way they word it I'm chained down if I want warranty. I don't dispute the fact you can run up to 0w-20 on these engines as they were specced to do so on the past. But I can't argue that if it were to come down to it. I doubt I could argue that, the manual is pretty...

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

And what year is this from? Manuals change year by year and so do recommendations. You do realize warranty is region specific right? So a Canadian car falls under North American rules, and if Toyota North America specifies 0w-8 then that's what you have to run. And the first thing most dealers...

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

No, trying to make a more educated decision using as much data as possible. Obviously on such a thin oil having a higher amount of antiwear additives would be idea due to the possibility of shear being high, and if we have hths data it would be largely down to anti-wear for protection, on these...

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

You better obey when warranty is in question, especially with how Toyota is very quick to deny warranty claims. For example they have declined warranty on gr86 rtv issues - which is indisputably a manufacturer defect. They have also denied warranty for tracking the car. Their excuse? I have seen...

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

Not really talking about thick or thin, that's what everyone else brought to the thread. I just wanted voa's or uoa's of various 0w-8 oils.

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

Seems like you're reading around every single point except the one that matters. That's the one clause that will definitely hand you a loss in court over a warranty battle, and prevent prolong use of a higher weight oil. Everything else you posted was wishy washy at best with selective terms...

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

I have a 2025 manual and it clearly and explicitly states 0w-8. You can refer to Lexus Canada for the manual. That chart you posted isn't relevant, it's the text that accompanies it that dictated everything.

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

2025 Lexus ux300h. The manual phrases it in such a way where you really don't have a choice if this were to go down to a legal battle over warranty claims.

MOTUL HYBRID 0W-8 VOA or UOA?

I don't question that logic at all, when it's out of warranty I'll likely be switching over. But the problem is warranty denial and trying to fight a major corporation if anything were to occur. For instance they'll be like: "ok you used 0w-16 temporarily no problem, but where's the proof you...
