    Non-destructive Ruffles® Bypass Valve testing

I think the only value in this method would be for comparative testing a batch in one sitting, since things like temperature and humidity would probably be significant factors, not to mention the state of the vacuum. So pretty much for buying a few filters and finding the best of them to...

    Non-destructive Ruffles® Bypass Valve testing

Since apparently now relief valves have ridges, I was thinking about testing them before installation. I've seen mentioned to try putting a small amount of oil into the bottom of the filter and seeing how long it takes to leak through the bypass plate interface. Not related to the bypass, but...

Check out my magnets on my oil filter

I don't think rubbing is necessary to magnetize small particles like it might be with something like a screwdriver. Contact is enough in my experience.

Check out my magnets on my oil filter

I wonder if there's any concern about magnetizing small particles that could then escape from the magnet and stick to parts you don't want them to.

Fram Endurance Flashlight Test in canister

Well this thread has been quite the ride. I'd like to contribute with some cut open filters, depending on what is available nearby. How can I identify a OG Titanium vs new and an OG Ultra vs new? Is it all just backing presence and media color?

Gasoline Filter Testing - Planning Stages

Interesting. I'd assumed that since there are cellulose-based water filters, then water would be fine. That complicates things a bit I. wanted to pass at least a few liters through the filters, but I suppose I could get the job done with <1 L per filter and find someone with a gas lawn mower who...

Gasoline Filter Testing - Planning Stages

Good to know, I'll give it a try with the companies I listed here, plus any others that bother responding to my initial email.

Gasoline Filter Testing - Planning Stages

I rarely ever see gasoline filters with any useful information advertised (micron rating/efficiency, media/housing material, holding capacity, flow rate). I reached out to a couple dozen brands to do a survey, but the results have been very disappointing so far. I was thinking instead that it...

Grease for a steel on steel plain bushing for dryer?

Yup, just a bushing. Synpower is the GC-LB I have, so I'm leaning that direction right now based on the input so far. I checked the rollers, and they are just steel of some sort. They look identical to some cheap off-brands from Amazon when I search for the OEM part number.

Grease for a steel on steel plain bushing for dryer?

Seen some similar posts, but they all were regarding oil bronze bushings. I have a dryer that has steel on steel plain bearings for the drum rollers. I imagine the originals were bronze, but this is how I received it. Normally I'd just get OEM style wheels to replace them (or find a way to get...
