New Piston Heavier Than Original Piston

I agree. Only problem is removing 5-6 grams of aluminum from a piston will result in quite a bit of removed material.

New Piston Heavier Than Original Piston

I found that removing 5 grams of material from an aluminum / tin coated piston would require substantial butchering. Probably better of all the options to have the hardened steel wrist pin bored out a few thousandths.

New Piston Heavier Than Original Piston

That is for ONE cylinder No. I'm only considering the weight of the old piston vs the weight of the new piston. I "trust" that the factory got the original rods the same weight or well within tolerances. The set of 6 pistons I bought from RA is EngineTech, P5043(6)STD brand. I did notify...

New Piston Heavier Than Original Piston

Hello, I was originally planning a total rebuild. But after taking the head off and measuring cylinder bore for wear and rod journal it looks very healthy other than this one piston that is likely to have been damaged by detonation due to a failed fuel injector. The engine has 157k miles...

New Piston Heavier Than Original Piston

Hello Shel. Love your reply :) The deposits would have made the problem worse, since removing any deposits could only make the original piston lighter right? The original piston is clean enough that I would estimate less than 1 gram is possible in deposits. Probably much less like 1/15th.

New Piston Heavier Than Original Piston

Thanks. I have a slight concern about a slight increase in stress on that one rod bearing and that any additional vibration could lead to another eventual ring or ring land failure? It's pretty easy for me to remove 6 grams from the new piston with my dremel grinding wheel. I'm considering...

New Piston Heavier Than Original Piston

Hello I am replacing the original piston in my 3.8L Dodge Caravan engine and there is a difference in weight between the old and new. The original wrist pin weighs 134 g The new wrist pin weighs 140 g The Original piston with wrist pin weighed 568 grams total The New piston and wrist pin...

    Cordless Tool Batteries

There are so many counterfeit low quality batteries out there masquerading as high quality Samsung etc. Even if they come close to the capacity they still fall short on the current delivery capacity.

    Cordless Tool Batteries

I use IMR batteries, batteryjunction among others but if you're looking for low price good luck. Being in the electronics biz I get a good supply of items with perfectly good 18650's etc from devices that are submitted for repair but not worth it. Good Batteries are not cheap.

    Cordless Tool Batteries

:ROFLMAO: Note to myself...Do NOT read Travs post while having any beverage !! Good stuff Mr. Trav. I can't argue your point. One thing..... I did have a 3 month old Hercules battery go into sleep mode on me after a short while. I had to open the battery pack and individually charge the...

    Cordless Tool Batteries

"30 year old" That sums it up nicely. They do not make things like they used to. Today's motto = "Planned self destruct so customer buys repeatedly" It's kinda the consumers fault. ppl buy cheap chinese HF crap to save a few pennies which puts quality manufacturers in a tight spot. Who wants...

    Cordless Tool Batteries

Well, yeah...nothing lasts forever especially when it comes to battery operated stuff. Not even the very best of tools. Maybe you got a decent service life out of them.

    Cordless Tool Batteries

20v is a much different beast. The higher the voltage, the less current you need. Less current = less heat.

    Cordless Tool Batteries

Well, I build my own batteries. I have bins full of various BMSs on hand for most configurations. it's what I do. Once I buy a battery pack, I just rebuild that pack when the capacity drops below my preferences. If I want to make a 5Ah battery pack into an 8Ah pack...easy peasy. I even add my...

    Cordless Tool Batteries

I completely understand your point. I use my tools heavily. Daily. For automotive repairs, painting and farm chores. I do all my own carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting etc. I cover my battery powered tools with fitted clear plastic bags when working on engines and grease. But it's...

Red Tools? Meh, I might try one here and there. Say what you want. For the money they work just fine for me.

Best additive to prevent fuel gumming up the carb?

Cool. Having been in the motorcycle repair biz I had to find a way to keep customers bikes from gumming back up over winter and then claiming I did a chit job. So I always added it to the tank before it left the shop. What people don't know about Stabil Marine 360 is it does more than just...
