How much is your vehicle tag in your state ?

$160 this year for the Equinox with the state park passport included ($14) no property tax on tags. I do wish this money actually went to the roads instead of the shell game they play for funding Obamacare.

    Fluid film/Blaster surface shield comparison

I have used fluid film for several years now with good results. I have an inexpensive gun and usually do any new vehicles over a period of time, one section at a time. Over the winter I found some Blaster surface shield on clearance and couldnt pass on the price. I had heard that the Blaster...

Dead deer in back yard - disposal is a pain

Coyotes around here would have it gone in 1 night. We buried one that died because its mother was killed on the road a few years ago. Had it at least 2 ft deep and the coyote dug it up that same night and hauled it away.

New Sierra HD with 6.6 gasser ordered, wondering about cSt

I ran a Scangage 3 on Both my 2021 and 2024 L8T 3500HD trucks. Even when towing my 12k+ fifth wheel my oil temps never went over 230 and typically ran mid 210's to mid 220's I ran either Mobil 1 5W30 or GM dexos 1 Gen 2 oil in them, never added a drop between changes.

    Giving way to emergency vehicles

Nothing worse than coding on the E-way and still getting passed ....... Something else to think about is that many vehicles now have dark tint on the front side windows. This make it impossible to make eye contact with the driver. This was a helpful tool in determining whether the driver had...

    Giving way to emergency vehicles

Engines (fire trucks) are speed limited at 65 MPH and most ambulances wont go much over 70. Your strategy is solid.

    What’s your favorite anti-seize aerosol?

I use traditional Permatex and apply it with a brush for the application you stated. In other areas where I am installing anything with a machine thread I will spray a shot of Fluid film on the threads. This helps to prevent the "Michigan loctite" that is so prevalent around here

    Delvac Rebate - Spring 2025

I will get the rebate, thats for sure. Its just the website having a glitch is just a little sketchy. Technically it was my fault by not looking closely enough at the picture of the receipt. At least I could theoretically resubmit it and fortunately I have until the end of April.

    Delvac Rebate - Spring 2025

I had one rejected because the date on the valid receipt wasnt visible and I missed that when I submitted it. Of course when I went to resubmit it as instructed the website has a glitch and wont allow me to select which product it was for. Typical rebate crap trying to wear you down

Reasons NOT to use Kirkland 0w-20 or 5W-30 Synthetic...?

I have been running it in my 23 Equinox RS AWD 1.5L turbo since new. yearly 6k oil changes and lots of short hops since we both are retired. Hard to beat an under $20 oil change with a solid D1 G3 oil and an AC filter. Thats not a luxury car but it wasnt cheap either and I am for sure in it for...

Reasons NOT to use Kirkland 0w-20 or 5W-30 Synthetic...?

I ran it in my 1.4L Cruze turbo and tested it at 5000 miles. Good test and the oil still had plenty of life left. I wouldnt hesitate to run it 7500 depending on use and conditions.

Are drilled and slotted rotors worth the cost?

I ran a set on an HD trucks some 10 yrs ago. The big reason I bought them was that they had corrosion protection on them which worked well. I did not notice any improvement in performance. All things being equal I wouldnt go out of my way to use them. We used NAPA premium pads and rotors on the...
