    Liqui moly 4200 vs 4600 vs M1 ESP 5W30

I’d pick one and not worry about it. If you have an oil related issue they will probably just want to see your receipts. They will not get into the level of certifications that you mention. Been there, done that.

    Yokohama Geolander CV4S review

I’m seeing good things about this tire on the Outback forum as well. Seem like a milder version of the GO15.

    Low viscosity/shearing

In case you didn’t know, despite their comments, Blackstone does not actually test for fuel. Not surprised they used the term “shearing” but they only estimate fuel. Even with a full sample you will not get an actual fuel reading. And you may be surprised that a 30 minute freeway drive doesn’t...

2016 Subaru STi, 37.8k miles, 2.9k miles OCI Castrol Euro 0w30 LL01 w/ OE filter

Here's an old uoa where BS said to keep an eye out at 4 ppm's: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/13-subaru-wrx-rt6-3-412mi-elevated-silver.226493/ Jeez, that thread is 10 years old. I can't believe the random oil related things that I remember. :ROFLMAO: Seemed to be more common on...

2016 Subaru STi, 37.8k miles, 2.9k miles OCI Castrol Euro 0w30 LL01 w/ OE filter

If your silver keeps ticking upward BS may flag it. They’ve flagged silver in the EJ in the past with results as low as 4-6 ppm’s. Hopefully it’s just noise.

Traded Pirelli Scorpions for Continental CrossContact LX25s

@SubieRubyRoo did you consider an All Weather tire? Just curious since you mentioned Midwest winter. I’m eyeing a Cobb AP as well since it’s finally available for the Outback XT. They also offer a veteran’s discount of 15% although not through ID me.

Nissan Dealer Bulk Synthetic 0W-20, 2019 Nissan Altima 2.5L, 5,162 Mi on oil

Do you plan on asking them about their oil or discussing the uoa results? I suspect you may blow their minds with your knowledge so be careful. 🤯 Too bad you don’t have access to a Gas Chromatograph. Or do you? 😁

    2023 WRX Valvoline R&P, 3000 miles

I guess this depends if we think that these results are 100% accurate? At the very least, I would move up to a higher HTHS Euro oil which is what is allowed in the stock JDM FA24 WRX. You can go with an ACEA C3 xW-30 which gives you a more robust viscosity without the higher metallic additives.

    Dealership oils

My Subaru dealer used to have a bulk synthetic as their base synthetic and SGMO as their premium offering. At one point they had Mobil 1 although I do not know which tier this was. They actually use the SGMO in quart containers so I would guess that it's pricey. There are some dealers that...

    Toyota 0w-8 FF, 2.3k mi; 2025 Camry

How do you know it’s not in the oil? Some factory fill oils absolutely use an oil with higher moly.

Dealer service said synthetic oil will cause my 2003 Subaru to leak.

I do not believe that Idemitsu makes an oil that is not synthetic for the U.S. Same goes for a Subaru labeled version. https://www.idemitsulubricants.com/idemitsu/engine-oil

    2021 Subaru Outback 2.5L/ Mobil 1 AFE 0w-30 2.8k Miles

Looking on the Subaru Japan site, I have found that both the JDM Crosstrek (specs 0W-16 here) and the WRX allow 0W-20, 5W-30 and Euro 0W-30. Both manuals make mention of the Les Pleiades 0W-30. http://www.pleiades-zero.com/?page_id=69

First sample, 2019 Subaru Ascent, 7300 miles HPL Premium Plus 0w30

I don't recall what they did, but it might be in this discussion. Check the uoa in post 41. I don't see a reply so maybe I got it mixed up with another one. Check comments here from justinjs...

First sample, 2019 Subaru Ascent, 7300 miles HPL Premium Plus 0w30

Wow, that's some of the highest fuel dilution that I've seen in a Subaru DIT. Several years ago, there was someone on the Forester forum that got their dealer to look into a fuel injector issue based on high fuel on their 2.0 DIT Forester. I believe his was over 6% as well. Turned out the dealer...

    Idemitsu 5W-30 SP/GF6, 3.4k miles, 23 Subaru Outback 2.5 DI

I think the fuel dilution is pretty decent compared to most Subaru DIT's. Highway driving doesn't seem to have much of an impact on fuel in the DI or DIT engines. Was the VOA submitted with the UOA?

    Amsoil Euro 5w-30, 2.7k mi / '21 wrx, 24k mi

9.3 is still a 30 grade. But there are just too many variables to draw any meaningful conclusions from a single or even a handful of uoa's IMO but people attempt to do it all the time. Yes, a high flashpoint points to low fuel dilution but that doesn't necessarily mean it's non-existent. We can...
