The only time I've ever had to add a quart of oil to our BMW with the inline six was when I ran straight "Mobil" 1 0w-40. I started adding two quarts of HM 10w-40 to the five quarts of 0w-40 and the consumption stopped.

It’s the M264 and I have not received a notice, but we don’t have the 4matic. Ours was CPO so it had additional warranty and I extended it to 2028. The extended warranty was well worth it on our BMW 528i, which we still have and use for a family spare.
