Having Maverick HD 48-inch cut with 22 hp Kawasaki delivered Monday. I was pretty much set on a Ferriss because of the ride, but there were absolutely no reputable dealers within 100 miles. Local company that's been here forever had this '24 model on sale. I drove it in a field next to the dealer and looked for every hole and ditch I could find to test the ride comfort. With the EZ-Ride system and suspension seat it rode like a dream compared to my trusty Scag Freedom Z, which I've had for 18 years. I just got tired of getting beat up every time I cut my 2.5 acres.

Suckered in by the title, but it's in the lawn mower section ... I guess you guys missed that?

I've got a BadBoy Rogue; 35 HP Kaw, 60" deck. I have some fairly rough and hilly terrain to mow. It's the beast I had hoped it would be.

Good luck with the new Maverick!

If I remember correctly Spartan was a spin off of these mowers
From what I've read, the OGs at Bad Boy sold out to Hustler and then weren't happy and started Spartan. I priced both and I got a smoking deal on the Bad Boy with $1k off for the '24 model.

I got a Kohler 61" SRT HD Spartan in 2017 and it's been stellar

Bad boy, was bought by Sterling and TorQuest. Hustler is owned by Stanley/Black and Decker.
A lot of ppl say Spartan outfits their mower with under powered transmissions. Idk , I've never been seen a Spartan in person.

Pretty good vid.

The Maverick HD comes with hydro gear zt-3400 transaxles, considerably beefier than the 2800s on my Freedom Z, which BTW, have been trouble free. It's also got the Donaldson air filter system and suspension seat, which is what sold me. A comparable Scag Patriot has zt-3100 transaxles and was also $2k more.

Mom and Dad just bought a Hustler Fastrack with a 60" deck and the fx730 Kaw. Basically the same thing only bigger motor and deck. It only has the 3200 hydro gear drive but I think the only difference between the 3400 there is aluminum case and pump size. They traded in a Dixon that had 3400s.

They got the torson forks on the front casters and that makes for one smooth ride. Way better than the dixon.

Mowed my 2.5 acres twice with the new Bad Boy. It's taking a little adjusting. The ZT-3400s are a little more sensitive than the ZT-2800s on the Scag, so I'm not cutting a perfectly straight line yet but getting close. To use a football analogy, the Scag was like a wide receiver. The Bad Boy is like a Bama linebacker! However, the Bad Boy's suspension and suspension seat make the ride 10 times smoother. I don't end up with an aching back after I finish cutting.

I was thinking the same thing

Didn't wait for the 8-hour recommended oil change. Changed it at 5 hours with Kawasaki 20w-50 and Kawasaki filter. I live in LA (Lower Alabama), where it gets hot. I won't be cutting grass in any temps below 70F. Still happy with the Bad Boy. The suspension seat makes all the difference!

Cut the filter

Timely post! I've been looking at the Toro Titan Max and Toro z master vs Bad boy Maverick HD and Bad boy Rebel with the Hydro gear 4400.

I'm looking to buy end of this season , unless the ignition coils coming tomorrow don't fix my 2013 timecutter
