In Light Driving Conditions Would You Notice Difference in 5w-20 vs 0w-30 - Subaru BRZ

I'm thinking it would be 100% needed in harsher driving conditions, and no question about track driving. I just ask because I am older and my driving will be pretty easy with it. I sowed my wild RPM oats with a Honda S2000 over a 9 year period, I won't be rev happy with this car nearly as...

In Light Driving Conditions Would You Notice Difference in 5w-20 vs 0w-30 - Subaru BRZ

With my 2024 Subaru BRZ it runs a 0w-20 oil from the factory and as the recommended oil. I have it in winter storage right now with only 200 kms on it. It will go on the road in May as a weekend only garage queen car. I have a daily driver that I use for work, and I just want a weekend...

Unwilling to accept the data, staying with 2-3k oil changes

Don't ask me, I don't know **** about motor oil, I just mentioned the video I seen, wrong or right I don't know and I have no interest in finding out either.

Ceramic spray at the coin wash

I believe it yes. I think you have products and services that do it that way for the most convenience. Then you have the over the counter sprays that I use with more concentration and a bit more effort needed. Then you have the top quality professional products which are the ultimate...

Ceramic spray at the coin wash

The new stuff they have been producing in recent years has been good quality for low cost and easy application, and easy to find for sure.

Some crappy cel phone quality pics, but the car looks pretty clean after the Turtlewax ceramic detail sprays

Ceramic spray at the coin wash

I just brought home a Subaru BRZ, and I picked up one bottle of ceramic detailer and ceramic spray from Turtle Wax ( at Canadian Tire ). I'm not fooling myself into thinking it is as good as a true ceramic aftermarket treatment, but I want the hydrophobic effects to help keep the car cleaner...

Unwilling to accept the data, staying with 2-3k oil changes

The head engineer for the Nissan GTR advocates 2000 mile oil changes for his car and all cars if you want to get maximum engine protection. I can't support or disprove his claim but that is it, there is a video out there with the statement they make.

Preferred Break-In Method for new vehicle

Thank you, my thoughts are very similar to yours, and that is exactly how I will drive this car, I appreciate the reply on this. These are amazing cars, I've only had it for 3 weeks but I love it. I previously had a Honda S2000 for 9 years, and this is as close as one can get to a...

Preferred Break-In Method for new vehicle

I just put in Redline MT-LV , it is a thinner fluid but the shifting is amazing, really loving the change. My first choice was going to be Amsoil MTL 5w30, but I went with the Redline fluid. I wanted a dedicated MTF fluid , not just plain gear oil, and the difference feels good already...

Preferred Break-In Method for new vehicle

Thank you, that sounds like a good idea for the longer term , I will see if I can switch to a 30 weight , I have some 5w20 to use up first but will look at changing to a 30 weight for the future. Thanks.

Preferred Break-In Method for new vehicle

Subaru says 1000 miles, keep rpms low and load low, but that is a long time to me. It could take me 8 months to get through break-in period, lol, at the rate I drive the car - weekend garage queen. It would be a very long and boring driving season with rpms below 4k, lol, hence my...

Preferred Break-In Method for new vehicle

Go Easy but Not Too Easy ? I brought home a new car in the last 3 weeks - 2024 Subaru BRZ, it was in the dealer show room and it only had 10 kms on it - no test drives ! yay. Everything I've been seeing lately has suggested taking it easy on break-in, while I agree not to drive it like it...

Oil forums tend to bring out opinions like that, lol. I wish I knew what was "the best oil "

    20 wt oil for neighbor

I like the moly count of the Valvoline, but neighbours don't likely care about details like that, so you can't go wrong with either.

2024 Subaru BRZ Manual Transmission Fluid Suggestions

Yes you did, and you did it well, andy our replies were appreciated. I wasn't asking any further question here. In this thread David Hess asked if I was looking for a smoother shifting transmission, but that was not my motivation, I was wanting to change the tranny fluid in order to get...

Amsoil 5w20 S.S. SN Good to Protect Against LSPI ?

Good question, I do not. You are right as it is not turbocharged, it is Direct Injected (partial) and high compression. Probably not an issue with this engine ?

Amsoil 5w20 S.S. SN Good to Protect Against LSPI ?

I picked up a stash of Amsoil SS in 5w20 viscosity, I believe it is an SN oil. There is a bunch of nomenclature denoting Dexos 1 gen 1 and gen 2, but I want to make sure it is a good oil to protect against LSPI ? My Subaru BRZ has dual fuel injection (port and DI ) which I like...
