You know you're a real bitoger when...

There was a news clip about someone frying up food in motor oil many many years ago. The customers got very sick. It was suspected that some had symptoms similar to PREGERIA.

Door unlocking on it's own problem & fix

Hi everyone, I had this door handle problem come back " again " and have been wrestling with it some more. I think I may have finally fixed it so it does not come back. The following is a copy of what I just posted on the Honda CRV owners club forum about this: Hi everyone. Here's a more recent...

recommended brake upgrade for 15 Rav 4 XLE ?

Be aware that there are Uber expexsive brake rotors and pads used on high speed track only race cars, that are designed to run extremely hot. However, they are garbage when stopping when cold. Sometimes people put them on a vehicle used for everyday driving and get rudely surprised when they...

Camry burns 4L oil every 7,000km

If you don't crank with sparkplugs out to remove fluids in cylinder, you risk hydrolocking a cylinder and bending the connecting rod, or other damage. Your list suggest you might try putting sparkplugs in and cranking without first removing fluids by cranking without spatkplugs. Bad idea.

2014 TSX K24 + HPL Euro 5W30 = safe for 10K mile OCI right off the bat?

I have been using RedLine SI-1 fuel system cleaner in mine since I bought it in Feb. of 2020 with 19,877 miles on it. A few times I ran about 3/4 bottle per tank, but I always add the maintance dose of 4.45 mL per gallon just before each fill. I use trip B to track the miles and mpg and divide...

2014 TSX K24 + HPL Euro 5W30 = safe for 10K mile OCI right off the bat?

K24 are in general a great engine, but they are known to have a startup rattle for only second or two when something is going on in the valve-train drive system. Sometimes it's the variable drive hydraulic systems consisting of the round section between the timing-chain sprocket and the cam...

Heavy Vibration in Reverse only V6 Accord. Head scratcher.

^ What everyone else said, double down with using OEM engine mounts. But while you are at it, see if it has rubber Radiator mounts, and if so replace those also if they look at all questionable. The 2015 CRV had a vibration due to requiring different than original Radiator mounts. So maybe...

Not sure if the transmission was slipping or the car was having a moment.

If it's like my 2016 crv then the cvt trany has 2 filters. Search YouTube videos about changing them. Both should be changed around 90 K miles. One requires dropping the pan, one is high up in the engine bay beside the engine. The one inside the trany that you have to drop the pan to get to is a...

2019 Chevy Malibu CVT having issues

GM does not make CVT tranys. They buy them from JATCO. JATCO builds them to the specifications of the vehicle maker. General rule of thumb for CVT transmissions is to change the fluid often. Toyota and Honda make good CVT's. Subaru and JATCO, are not as good.

2019 Chevy Malibu CVT having issues

Amsoil makes a CVT tramy fluid that is supposed to have higher concentrations of whatever the good stuf is for CVT's. If no warranty, maybe a filter change and drain and fill with amsoil CVT fluid, drive it a few hundred miles to mix with the old fluid that did not get out, and then another...

    Fun with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge)

ESD can occure easier if the air is very dry. Indoor air can often be dry in cold weather. So using humidifiers reduced the chance of ESD damage.

    Fun with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge)

Residue soap film is good at conducting enough to prevent static electric buildup. Many moons ago, when mosfet transistors were first available to the public, they came without internal protection. A slight static discharge could destroy all of them in a circuit. One EE saw that some racks of...

Daughter got first car....daughter also had first car accident. :(

Seriously, take that her to a gocart track and let her drive around that track in a rental gocart for about 15 minutes. Repeat at least once a week. Until she has driven gocarts for enough times that it's no challenge for her to not wreck them. Only then get her something to drive on the roads.

    Delta crash at Toronto

I just saw a slow motion video on YouTube of the landing, and though the resolution was bad, it suggests that at the time that right main touched down, a clowd of something erupted. Probably snow, but could have been unlit fuel. If it was snow the SPECULATION was that when the runway was cleared...

New To Me...a car I never wanted.

Ws6, I understand where you are coming from. My mother passed 2 years ago. She was a great woman who raised 7 great kids. As for that car: If it's like the 2001 Impala we had. It has 2 egr valves, one under the hood, one in the back, and both go bad with age. If it not the gas cap, just...

    Counterfeit spark plugs?

I seldom buy sparkplugs, but when I do, I buy NGK from Rock Auto, and after I get then I phone NGK and ask what to look at on them to tell if they are authentic or counterfeit. They know the differance and are helpful in telling what to look at to destinguish the differance. So far, all I...
