All the 88-95 GMT400’s were TBI stock. I’m wondering if the OP is mistaking the TBI unit for a carb. Not uncommon, they look externally similar for those unaware.

I have a jug of the full-synthetic SuperTech 15w-40 on deck once I finish my T5 supply. VOA on it appeared to be quite good for the price point. Yeah, heavier oil will help dampen the knock to a point but will need a rebuild if you intend to keep it long term.

Seems to have become more common on non-performance engines. The GM 3.6 LFX that came out in 2012 has them I discovered. Also noticed them more and more on tear downs on https://m.youtube.com/@I_Do_Cars

Ugh, brain fart on my part, all the CCP’s I have are made in Vietnam. The MicroGuard Select filter for the 3.6 that I have, MSL10255, is made in China.

No, four different vehicles/filter models. I don’t remember off the top of my head the PN but the China filter was for the GM 3.6 in the Equinox.

3 of the CCP models I bought are made in Vietnam, 1 model is China. /shrug They all look great, no worries.
