Last month i read that Vince was fired again from Motley Crue....something about drinking himself to near death etc....

Love Motley Crue but you hit it on the head, his voice has been gone for decades. Shame because it was spectacular. Not sure what he did to it, everybody loses some range of course but there are plenty of older guys who can still sing pretty well. jeff

    Pad Spreader (Fixed Caliper)

I have one of the "universal" type sets from Amazon, works well on all the types I've encountered (note I've never done something with multiple pistons etc). Not as slick as those ratcheting types but good for the price. I do one brake job every year and a half or so (ie not that often); but the...

    Ducati Scrambler ride in Tuscany

Here we are getting ready to leave the shop. The jacket makes me look sorta fat but I am not 😁. My friend here and I have known each other since we started college in 1995. Another fat Jeff pic with the Chianti hills in the background. And another couple shots of the bike and the countryside.

    Ducati Scrambler ride in Tuscany

I was on vacation visiting a pair of college friends and their kids who are living in Florence for a couple of years. My buddy recently got a Ducati Monster, so we thought it'd be fun to get me a bike for the day and ride around the Tuscany countryside. It's been almost 7 years since I sold my...

My review of the movie Ambulance

I saw the original Norwegian (or whatever it was) version of this on a plane many years ago, it was pretty good. Always like Jake Gyllenhaal and the reviews have been solid so might have to check it out. jeff

Acura coming out with a new Integra

Yup. It's a Civic Si, a perfectly good car, with an Acura wrap. We'll see what the premium is. The 2.0 turbo from the Accord would have been a better option. I am directly in this car's target audience but it leaves me cold with the Civic powertrain. jeff

    Oscillating Tools.

I have the Makita 12v, I have no frame of reference for if it's better or worse than others, but it's extremely handy. There are some jobs it's perfect and nearly indispensable for, others that something else might be better for but it'll handle in a pinch. Certainly worth a spot in your garage...

    NCAA final 4

Opposite hopes for me. I went to Villanova :) and I can't stand coach K. Would love to see him go out at the hands of hated arch rival UNC. A 'Nova vs. UNC final would be a cool rematch of the 2016 championship. Unfortunately with the injury to Justin Moore I'm not very confident we beat...

Post your HOA horror stories here

I can't speak for all HOAs, only mine, but the enforcement/nanny stuff is literally the least of the duties, and to the extent it even gets done there's no cost associated with it. It's done by volunteers. The actual work of the HOA is in the maintenance of the property, contract management...

    Overlooked Movies

The movie I always tell people to check out in these sorts of conversations is Prisoners with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, directed by Denis Villeneuve who also did Sicario, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and the new Dune, among others. Pretty simple plot but the acting is great and it is...

Post your HOA horror stories here

I'm not sure barking dogs are really an HOA issue. Of course people can complain to the HOA about anything they want but that doesn't mean the HOA can or will do anything about it. Our documents do not cover noise issues (those are governed by local law) or disputes between neighbors. A...

Post your HOA horror stories here

I've lived in the same neighborhood with an HOA for 21 years. I am in my second year on the board of directors, long story but the incompetence of the previous board finally got to be too much that we staged a coup of sorts. About 850 homes, including single family, townhouse, and some condos...

    New tool thread

I can verify that the reciprocating saw works well, and the little circular saw is awesome. Super handy. Also not pictured is the Harbor Freight toe-kick saw also procured for this job. Used it for cutting along the perimeter of the subfloor in a bathroom. Made very short work of it, saving a...

    New tool thread

Doing some demolition/construction at a house my brothers and I inherited so picked up these to assist. 12v 3 3/8" circular saw and the basic 18v reciprocating saw. Already have both 12v and 18v Makita batteries. I have a corded full size DeWalt circular saw but I think this little one will be...

    Vroom offer

Ha, so this is exactly what I did. Normally would have the wife pick me up from something like this but schedules didn't mesh so Uber it was. $15 on a $16,600 transaction seemed a modest concession :) jeff

    Vroom offer

I just sold a 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan (part of an estate I'm administering), got online offers from Vroom, Carvana, and Carmax. Carvana the lowest at $15,500, Carmax the highest at $16,600, Vroom in the middle. Took it to Carmax, sat around for an hour and a half, and left with the check. The...

Does your employer have a yearly ‘code of conduct’ you have to agree to ?

My first day on the job coming up on 23 years ago I had to swear an oath to support and defend the Constitution. No refreshers on that one 😁 jeff
