Shell Rotella Gas Truck 5w30 and other grades is a great oil for gas trucks and heavy duty use in cars, IMO. I hope that Shell hasn't discontinued it, but they might have. Any thoughts about this? It's still available from Walmart online.

I like nice oils, or at least the idea of them, but only if they're affordably priced. If it's available at Wallyworld, I'm willing to consider it.

What I said in post 14 about Total Energies also applies to Lubeguard Complete PSF. Though even moreso as Lubeguard Complete is even thinner at op temp than TE. Look at their data sheets, or look at Lubeguard data I posted in OP that came from data sheet and see data I posted for others...

I looked at Total Energies PSF tech data sheet. I looks way better than Valvoline Synpower to me. The TE physical characteristics looks similar to Pentosin to my half educated eye. Good stuff for sure, but not what I was looking for. The op temp viscosity is lower than I'm looking for for Buick...

I can believe QS Euro 5w40 is good, but I want to stay at thick end of 5w30 and no thicker. A thick Euro 40 is thicker than I want. Also, the QS UP FS is a very good price at Wallyworld. I'm not poor anymore, but pinching pennies is still a habit and a fun hobby, even though not a necessity anymore.

Is HTHS stated in an oil's datasheet or calculated from VOA & UOA? How do you know what the HTHS of an oil is?

What is a respectable HTHS for 5w20 & 5w30 oils? Do thicker grade oils have better HTHS or just a higher starting viscosity? My understanding of HTHS is it tells us how much viscosity loss will occur due to shear. Is that correct?
