Are old-school auto transmissions with non-lockup torque converters harder on AT fluid?

I think so. The medium duty Allison AT545 is not a lockup trans and they are known to heat up on long pulls-think mountains. These are common in busses and are to the age where they're being used for conversions, toters, toy haulers, etc.

AGM battery on a non AGM car?

I put a Napa AGM in my 2016 F250 last winter. There were a few recommendations about leaving the cables disconnected for 24 hours and if I recall leaving the truck off with the doors locked for the next 24 hours. Some said this was the way-others said it was a joke. I have no idea but it...

What are you working on today?

Replaced a brake valve on a fire truck, finished a pond clean out and moved the track loader to the west end of the farm to cut a swale for drainage and start cutting grade for a quonset building I’m going to build.

    Recommend a muffler for 1986 Chevrolet K20 350SBC

I put the Dynomax 17749 on yesterday morning and I’m super happy with them. Slight rumble at idle and you can’t hardly hear it running on the highway.

    Pick an engine - 25HP 4-stroke

I vote Suzuki or Tohatsu. Those are what I'm leaning towards for my 1956 Crestliner.

What are you working on today?

What all are you responsible for as head custodian? My first real job was in facilities and grounds for a school district. We were responsible for all custodial operations, grounds and equipment, technology/IT, and all facilities and building maintenance. It was myself and 1 other person not...

What are you working on today?

Overslept this morning but still managed to get 6 loads of rock hauled for the county before my "real" job. On my way into town my Tercel decided it had enough and quit. Had my parents bring a farm truck and a tow strap and drug it home. Swapped all my PPE, firefighting gear, etc. into my Ranger...

    Recommend a muffler for 1986 Chevrolet K20 350SBC

Decided to try a pair of these Dynomax after listening to so many exhaust videos on youtube that my head is spinning. We'll see how they sound and how long they last.

Yes it's a square body. Factory duals but on stock manifolds.

    Recommend a muffler for 1986 Chevrolet K20 350SBC

It’s not so much the price that concerns me it’s the lifespan. I read some pretty lousy reviews on them and have a hard time spending that much more for OE style if it’s going to fall apart in 3-4 years. That’s why I questioned just ordering something off Amazon.

What are you working on today?

Took a load of bale rings to Kansas before working my night shift job. Dealing with a septic backup in one department but that's on hold until tomorrow. Worked on a PLC programming issue on a pallet wrapper but it's going to take another call to the manufacturer as nothing in the ladder logic is...

Tips and tricks for lifting heavy elderly person from floor?

You need to speak to whatever doctor or point of contact in the medical industry she has first of all to make sure there are no precautions for her in particular. They will advise you or turn you to someone who can. Also as a firefighter(non EMT) if there is ever any question that you should...

    Anyone had skin cancer before?

My dad has had multiple spots removed. They were the less critical types of skin cancer although I don't remember the name. Develop a good relationship with your dermatologist because you two are gonna get real familiar. HIs have been essentially outpatient operations. A few days for the bandage...

    Recommend a muffler for 1986 Chevrolet K20 350SBC

I'm needing new mufflers for my service truck as the old ones basically rusted off. Trying to decide if I shell out the $ for the Walker 21910 Quiet-Flow Stainless mufflers that it calls for or go with something on Amazon. The tail pipes will have to be replaced anyway so I'm not tied to the...

    1949 Ford 8N Tractor Won't Start

Yes they have a float. It's possible that someone messed with the idle and load adjustments in an effort to get it running in the past. My 8N is pretty sensitive to the adjustments.

Anyone use Castrol Pyroplex Blue grease?

I see cases of this stuff at one of the quarries I haul gravel out of. I assume they use it in the crushers, conveyors, loaders, etc.

    5.9 Cummins oil leaks

If it's a 12v then it's likely the valve covers and the tappet cover gasket. That's just what I see the most common on our yard trucks. The tappet cover is a chore and usually leaks even after putting a new gasket in.
