    My CX-9 totaled in accident

many times injuries like these can develop into things much worse. Adrenaline masks a lot of things, and even then, weeks later things will show up. I sincerely hope none of that happens, but keep it in mind. Its reasons like this I stopped riding a motorcycle. No matter how good you are, one...

New to me 5 speed Cobalt coupe

Best deal I’ve heard of recently. I bought my 2005 Focus for $1800. Driven it 2k miles and haven’t had any issues yet. But the AC doesn’t work in mine. Yours is the better deal!

2026 Ram 1500: The Hemi is back in business

I actually like the idea of leaving something proven alone. Imagine if Jeep brought back the 4.0. Sometimes simple and robust is better than all the HP gains you get at the cost of added complexity.

    Car swerves when changing gears

Coworker was describing a problem with a car. I offered to help identify the problem. 2016 GMC Terrain with 116k miles. Nothing looked out of the ordinary from a cursory glance at the suspension. When accelerating, the car pulls to the left when upshifting. When decelerating, it pulls to...

What’s your mileage limit for buying a used car?

Actions speak louder than words. Here’s my vehicle purchases. 1992 Miata 114k 1991 Previa 185k 1999 Toyota Solara 189k 2001 Civic 115k 2010 Scion xD 165k 2004 Lexus RX330 194k 2005 Ford Focus 150k Only car that has ever left me stranded was the Honda Civic. Camshaft position sensor would fail...

What are you working on today?

That Electrical diagnosis stuff terrifies me. CAN stuff steers me very clear of anything newer than 2010.

What are you working on today?

Got the replacement dash panel started. Already looks so much better.

What are you working on today?

My Lexus RX330 has a horribly cracked dash. This is a common occurrence in these. Lexus had a recall for it, but the prior owner didn’t get it done. New one from dealer is $800. Spent four hours yanking out what looks like a new dashboard from a serviced RX330 at the junkyard. Score at $100...

7 year old kyb struts, 27 year old control arm bushings, pics!

How do you remove the bushings? Never done it. The mangled up metal makes it look like a frustrating job.

Parking pawl damage when raising car with auto trans?

I’ll have to watch this next time I jack up the car. A very interesting explanation.

Parking pawl damage when raising car with auto trans?

I’ve always owned Manual transmissions. Now that I own automatics, I am confused about jacking them up. When I put a car in park, the car rolls forward or back depending on the road’s slope. Then something catches and stops the rolling. In my mind, I wonder if you jack a car up, say the rear...

Out with the Audi & In with a Pilot

This is such a fallacious argument. Do you know how many people use reasoning like this to destructive effect? “you don’t have the right to talk about X because you are not X, have not experienced X, or do not identify with X” If you really wanted to make a solid argument, you would use data...

Out with the Audi & In with a Pilot

You counter my anecdote with an anecdote of your own. I anticipate data won’t change your mind, but here it is anyways.

Out with the Audi & In with a Pilot

European cars. Something I will never experience except vicariously through others. Good move getting out of the luxury Euro money pit. Honda pilot will be a major relief long term.

    55 No-Post Chevy

I also think the pictured car looks ugly. I don’t appreciate how modified the car looks. The car looks like an unfinished front end, or is missing parts. And the lift also looks awful. To me, classic cars with excessive modern aesthetics are conflicting, which ruin the classic appeal...

Thinking of trading in the truck for a Tahoe...crazy?

I’d jump on a minivan also in this case. Passenger comfort, utility, it only lacks in machismo. Suburbans are impressively reliable though, at least the 2000s ones were, but their back seats are for toddlers and midgets only. Hardly a third row at all. I know - I sat in one.

How cramped is the V6 Toyota Highlander under the hood?

I just finished working on a 3MZ-FE timing belt and valve cover replacement gasket. It was torture working on it. I vastly prefer working on a 4 cylinder. If you can avoid it, do it. But like rjndeal said, removing the wiper cowl makes a tremendous difference. So everything takes longer...

My old Ghetto Ride, a '68 L36 Roadster

I love that you haven’t molested this car, adding a bunch of off flavor aftermarket stuff. Keeping it original keeps it classic. Two thumbs up. 👍

Fel Pro spark plug gaskets not fitting Doing something wrong?

No, they are not broken. Does this injector grommet look right? The old one went around rim. The new one doesn’t fit over it. Online images I see look like this, but why the difference?

Fel Pro spark plug gaskets not fitting Doing something wrong?

ran to Oreily’s. They had a set of six for sale. Redid the whole process with the gaskets right side up. Went on much easier. Thanks for the correction.
