Plumbing Costs - New Construction Home

So I’m building a new home in northern Kentucky, right across the river from a historic Indiana river town. I’m in the process of taking bids for plumbing. Any plumbers here that can chime in on the rates I should be expecting? Most are quoting the job as a “per hole” (there are 19) price and I...

    Valvoline Modern Engine 5w30 VOA

agreed. Our Hyundai 1.6 T-GDI runs great on VME. I bought 10 jugs last year at AZ sale. I’m sad it’s no longer on shelves. It appears weak on paper, but the engine is staying spotless and runs quiet.

2002 Corvette Z06 what oil to use?

When I had my 2000 FRC I ran QSUD 5w30. If I had another I’d run VAS 5w30. It’s an LS engine...as long as it has oil, basically any “engine” oil of almost any weight it will run and last a very long time. Put Whatever 5w30 synthetic you want in it and let that thing eat. nearly every API 5w30...

Picked up a case of Motorcraft Full Synthetic 5w20

Cases of this appear to be available from Amazon for ~$68. Works out to ~$5.65qt. Not terrible. More or less in line with Walmart 5qt jug prices.

    GMC Sierra Tires

My brother has a 17' Sierra DC and he just bought a set of Pirelli ATRs. He likes them a lot. Quiet and good in the wet. Since they are a slightly older generation tire they are very affordable on EBay as new sets. I have Mastercraft Courser AXT2 on my Silverado and I'm happy with them...

Need help with choosing a Ram 1500 Configuration

Given only a $6,000 spread between a 2wd Bighorn or a fully loaded 4x4 Laramie id choose the Laramie. You may not need 4x4, but even in rain putting a truck in "auto" mode can provide more traction on Hilly wet roads. Especially during the first few minutes of rain where the oil in the...

    2017 Hyundai Tucson SE

We own a Limited 1.6T AWD with the DCT. Engine is phenomenal. The DCT gets confused fairly often. Performance is decent, but I wish it was a normal torque converter AUTO. We aren't disappointed, but probably won't buy another DCT family hauler in the future.

Any place to buy a quart of cheap 2-cycle oil?

I always run 2- stroke oil from a motorcycle shop. Last quart I bought was Yamalube 2R. I think it was $9-10 a quart. A quart will last a while for most people. It usually lasts me 2 years (Stihl trimmer, Small Stihl Chainsaw). If you are looking for a $4-5/qt oil I'd use Supertech or STP oil.

    Mastercraft Courser STR

I just recently put a Set of Mastercraft Courser AXT2's on my Silverado. I'm so far very impressed with the ride and how quiet they are for an All Terrain tire. I've always had good luck with Coopers in the past on SUVs. The Mastercrafts were on sale and made by cooper. Time will tell how they...

Any problems with 5.3 AFE in Tahoe/Suburban?

I have a 2008 Silverado LY5 5.3L with AFM. I have 101k on it with 0 issues. Have owned it since 23k miles and it has burned about 1/2qt of Synthetic every 5k miles the entire time I have owned it. The amount of AFM issues on GM trucks is far less common than the Phaser/Timing chain issues on...

Should I Stick With My Truck? Buy "new"?

With your price range I'd look into a full size truck. New F150 XL with STX package and an EcoBoost or Coyote would be a good daily with plenty of tow capacity. Or Ram 1500 Express Hemi 4x4 with Tow package is a good value as well.

    Infant car seats getting cheaper?

I know my Wife purchased the Chicco keyfit 30 brand car seat/ stroller combo for our little one. I wouldn't say it was cheap. It was several hundred dollars.
