    Where to buy Magnefine filters?

Good Afternoon - I run a Magnefine transmission filter on my Dodge Caravan. I used to buy them directly from the Magnefine website to avoid getting a counterfeit copy. That website is off line, at least for me. Is buying Magnefines from Amazon safe ? Thanks in advance for any advice :)

    New style Honda EU2000 generator

Thanks for this info. I will buy this to get the oil change tube. A lot of reviews talk about the magnet falling out so will use the factory dipstick. Thanks to everyone who posted :-) This place is an awesome source of info

    New style Honda EU2000 generator

The generator is an EU2200i. I paid $1200 out the door at a local place that services what they sell. I always wanted a Honda for boondock camping

    New style Honda EU2000 generator

Good Morning - I just picked up a new Honda EU2000 series generator. The model number is EAMT The new version of this generator has a larger diameter dipstick/drain plug and the old style magnetic drain plugs will not fit. The generator also has a built in "chute " to prevent spilling oil during...

    Dexos 1 Gen 2 vs Dexos 1 Gen 3

I have a 2019 Chevy Colorado with V6. I run 5w30 Mobil 1 and a factory Delco oil filter. The old Mobil 1 jug is marked Dexos 1 Gen 2 and the new jug is marked Dexos 1 Gen 3. Can I mix this stuff? I assume it is compatible but wanted to check. Thanks in advance for any advice. :)

Apocalypse plumbing AKA the basement crap flood

The pipe does pitch up instead of down 1/4 inch per foot. The previous owner bought a trashed, copper stripped foreclosure home and “ fixed it up “ I wonder if the guy drank a lot. The plumbing has been clog free for over 20 years of daily use. We use bidet seats on the toilets so no toilet...

Apocalypse plumbing AKA the basement crap flood

Pix are from my basement. A poorly supported main sewer pipe came loose and caused a minor crap flood when the washer drained. Luckily the basement is unfinished concrete so no real damage. I was working alone so I put two eye bolts above the pipe and lifted it with a length of rope. Installed...

    No longer a landlord!

92Saturn - Ceciltucky is a snarky name for Cecil County Maryland. The area is a mix of rednecks and educated professionals. The two factions do not always get along. I tried a property manager with no success. The area where the rentals are has become so dangerous, only truly poor or marginal...

    No longer a landlord!

As of today both of my class D rentals are vacant and will be sold! One is in OK shape, the other is trashed beyond all belief Either way, I am out of the rental business FOREVER. The area has had two drug murders since May. Time to sell while the properties are still worth something. I have...

    Quick Door Hanger Review

Kira - There is another door hanger called an EZ Hang that works on exterior doors. Some of the brackets are detachable so you can install the door. I never used this version.

    Quick Door Hanger Review

I recently hung my first interior door at an old house I am fixing up. I used a new product called a Quick Door Hanger instead of the usual wood shims. The hanger kit costs about 5 dollars at Home Depot. The kit contains 6 brackets that screw to the prehung door frame, 3 on each side. You put...

    Gas Bandit Blocker

The spring does not prevent the addition of any solid or liquid. It just stops the siphon hose. I thought about a locking gas cap but they freeze up in winter.

    Gas Bandit Blocker

I have an older Dodge Caravan and live in the country. My gas mileage dropped off to 6 MPG and I suspected the local kids were siphoning my gas. The Gas Bandit Blocker is a tapered coil spring. Using a long screwdriver, you thread the spring into the fuel filler till it disappears. The spring...

clogged drain? Shop vac for the win!

Got a call from a tenant. "I dropped something down the drain and now it is clogged. I need this fixed NOW!" In tenant speak "something" can be a wedding ring or a baby hippo. Got my shop vac with Clean Stream waterproof filter ( blatant plug ) and vacced out the drain. Got a bunch of small...

    FRAM or not?

I am one of the early Fram haters. In 1985 we bought and cut open a lot of new oil filters out of curiosity. The Fram was absolute garbage, with the fiber end cap barely holding on. I kept those cut open filters for years, showing dozens of folks how the fiber end cap was barely attached. I...

The person who came up with Fernco fittings should win a Nobel prize. Fernco fittings make a horrible job easy.

    Apocalypse Plumbing cut and post

The picture is a 1 1/2 inch galvanized pipe elbow installed in 1970. The blockage is a solid chunk of rust that closed off most of the pipe. I could never figure why the bathtub drained so slowly:) Anyhow the old pipe was cut out with a sawzall and replaced with Fernco fittings and PVC. That...
