Excess Solar Production - Considering an EV

I don't really pay attention to gas prices anymore but it's over $5/gallon now :(

See, that's a reasonable price. I'd pay that without complaining haha.

    Latest on renewables in California

Neat, now bring the costs down so I'm not paying over $0.60/kwh. I don't care where my power comes from, just that I can afford to turn on the heater or AC or drive my EV somewhere.

    Mobil 1 Truck and SUV

I work at a parts store and while most Mobil 1 oils are very popular, hot sellers, the Truck & SUV moves very slowly. It's not very popular at all. This doesn't mean it's bad in any way, I'm sure it's fine stuff, but most people either get regular Mobil 1 or the Extended Performance line which...

    Hard drive failures--time or useage?

Some really negative people in this thread... an occasionally used five year old hard drive is no big deal.

Oil Filter Change W/O Oil change

I feel like changing the filter is the most annoying part of the oil change. I agree with the other poster - just do the whole thing yourself. By the time you drive to the shop and wait for them to do the oil change and then go home and change the filter and then bring the used filter to recycle...

    Rant: EV Tires

My friend had a Bolt EUV and went from the stock "EV" tires to "regular" tires and lost a SIGNIFICANT amount of efficiency/range. At the price of electricity around here, I don't think it's worth it. However, if power was cheap, I'd go with a cheap, less efficient tire. I hope I don't ever need...

I can't believe someone marked my reply as "helpful" it's literally the least helpful post on this forum.

    Motorcraft glue question

Interesting, I assumed it was to assist if the valve cover gaskets or rear main seal were leaking.

empty sump start - Biggest blunder EVER…..

I agree with taking apart the filter. If you find glitter, well, change the oil again and trade it in or something. If no glitter, happy motoring for many more years :)

30 Minute Review: 2025 Model 3 RWD "Long Range"

I was bored today and wanted to try FSD for a bit so I did a demo drive of a base model Tesla Model 3 (currently that's the "Long Range Rear Wheel Drive" configuration). Full Self Driving was truly INCREDIBLE. My last experience with this tech was like 5-6 years ago in a rented Model 3...

Drove both the Cybertruck and the Sierra EV... There is a clear winner!

The fact that your MYP is almost 1000 lbs lighter than a Prologue with like double the performance and the same range... lol.

Drove both the Cybertruck and the Sierra EV... There is a clear winner!

You can feel the difference in weight when you drive it, that's one of the reasons I think the Cybertruck drives and handles so much better than the Sierra EV. Yes, the weight of the Sierra EV's battery is in part because it's a much higher capacity (205kwh vs 122kwh on the CT), so you lose...

The truck can do 0-60 in 4.1, the winch needs to be just as fast :D

Last few vehicles I've looked up Carmax pays WAY more than Carvana. It used to be the other way around.

An old MPG gizmo I found, the Elektro-Karb "sonic fuel vaporizer."

I had a customer at work rave about how much better his MPG was using one of those $30 eBay OBD2 fuel savers that are four cents worth of trash electronics that do nothing but blink an LED to make you feel good. I went "uh huh" and smiled. People really are dumb!

Drove both the Cybertruck and the Sierra EV... There is a clear winner!

Interesting, I found it to be very well insulated in terms of wind noise and road noise. In fact, it was quieter than the Sierra EV which was VERY surprising. Especially because the Sierra was new and the CT was used. Bummer the headlights suck in ice, thankfully where I live it wouldn't be a...

Drove both the Cybertruck and the Sierra EV... There is a clear winner!

Yeah I mean EV depreciation is a double edged sword for sure across all brands. Sucks for people that buy them new, but awesome for people that buy them used.

I do intend to check out a Rivian too. Everyone who I've talked to or read online loves their Rivians. But I don't know how I'd feel about spending that much and not having the crazy fabulous steering the Cybertruck has.
